So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

A Brief Summary Of Dog Collectibles

By Anne Harvester

Dog collectibles are generally categorized as any object shaped like or featuring the image of a dog, which people collect and display in their homes and offices. Collectibles come in a wide array of themes, colors, and styles, and can be bought and showed off as long as they suit the buyer's taste. Many buyers choose items that feature the specific breeds of the dogs they themselves own.

Probably one of the most popular of all dog collectible items is the basic figurine. Figurines are small statues that have been constructed to look like a dog. These figurines are most commonly displayed on end tables or kitchen counters, and may have a second use, for example as a bookend or as a stand for another object.

Dog ornaments, brought out around the holidays to share with family and friends, are festive items generally hung on trees. An alternative is to set the ornaments up on mantle pieces or on tables, where they may be paired with other objects. Most ornaments and miniatures are crafted from stone or crystal, and should therefore be shown plenty of care.

Jewelry, such as necklaces, might have miniature dog-shaped lockets that hang around the neck. These necklaces are most often made of gold, silver, or other elegant metals, and can be worn on special occasions or holidays. Bracelets, too, can be dog-themed and collected by enthusiasts of both dogs and fine jewelry.

Paintings of dogs abound in many homes. These paintings may be abstract or realist, and show dogs doing any number of their favorite things (playing, barking, or sleeping). Some owners may even wish to commission a painting or drawing of their own dog, which can be hung at home or at work.

Shot glasses and cups are popular among today's youth, and since these items are already considered collectibles, finding one of a dog or canine-related accessory item should not be difficult. Specialty stores can sometimes create custom shot glasses for a particular customer.

Dog owners and lovers who are inclined toward creativity or without the means to purchase expensive collectibles might make their own. Supplies from the local art store might be used for any number of do-it-yourself projects. Those with more experience might make dog-themed pieces from wood, and display these in their own little corner of the house.

Dog collectibles and other similarly themed objects are not hard to come by, and are found in many antique stores. A collectible is anything that is valuable to the buyer, and so each collector determines which pieces might be proudly displayed.
