So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Things To Bear In Mind When Boarding A Santa Monica Taxi

By Diana Moore

If you are boarding a Santa Monica taxi, take into consideration that although hotels, restaurants, and other tourist outlets have a vested interest in keeping complaints low and profits high, taxis are not typically tied to any one location. As such, several taxi cab operators have developed notoriety for ripping off unsuspecting individuals who do not know the ins and outs of the area. Be ready for major price fluctuations during rush hour or when the weather is uncooperative. Even cab drivers who stay honest most of the time will sometimes take advantage of certain situations. If a sudden thunder storm materializes and you desperately need to get home, expect the costs to go up. Whether or not you accept conditions such as these is for you to decide.

Make sure you check for door handles. There are many stories of travelers getting abducted by "fake" cab operators. Unsuspecting people enter and soon find out that they have no way of getting out because there are no door handles accessible from the inside. Regardless if there isn't any malicious motive involved, having door handles is a must. What if you get involved in an auto accident and cannot get out of the automobile?

If you're especially careful, you may take into consideration sending a text message to friends and family members before entering the taxi. In your message, be sure you include the driver's name, identification number, and license plates. It's a good habit to have your cellular phone on you all the time, so that you will have the ability to call up somebody for help immediately. The safest thing you can do to remain safe when boarding taxis would be to never be alone. Having another individual along with you makes you much less of a target, and the more persons together with you makes you all the safer. The danger, of course, in having other people along is that you have peer pressure and conversation as added hazards. Prevent this by implementing distinct rules that whenever one individual feels bad about a circumstance, everybody will leave that circumstance immediately and that if it's time to change from one manner of travel to another, interactions which distract from the changeover must stop.

If the driver attempts to make a deal with you rather than utilizing the meter or claims his meter is broken, do not use the taxi. The city's or state's taxi cab enforcement commission requires that meters must be operable all the time so as not to cheat the public. Ask a trusted friend, relative, or individual who has used the service before what the fare ought to be. The key element to successful bargaining is to ask the taxi operator what the fare should be before you climb into a taxi cab.

In case the Santa Monica taxi is unclean, either inside or out, pass on it. It's that easy. The taxi cab operator makes use of this vehicle as his or her money-maker, so it should be well-maintained. If the automobile is in less than excellent condition, the driver isn't as focused on a properly operating vehicle and a great experience for their passenger as they should be.
