So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas

Diamonds vs. Cubic Zirconia - Are They Really That Visually Different?

By Jessica Wozniak

Since new technology exists today, it's burdensome to differentiate between cubic zirconia and a real diamond. As a result of this truth, that it's hard to tell the difference, naturally it will become popular (especially since it's much cheaper to create) throughout the world. If you discuss this with a certified gemologist, or a seasoned jeweler, they would tell you the same - cubic zirconia is the best alternative to a real mined diamond.

If a newly engaged bride were to look at cubic zirconia rings, unless you knew exactly what to look for, it would be extremely difficult to tell which one is which - diamond or cubic zirconia. Even those that have been in the industry for their whole careers have trouble determining this: that is why there is special equipment for this in their store. Once under the microscope or jeweler's loupe, it could be seen that cubic zirconia has slightly less color, flashes, or brightness, depending on the grade.

The cubic zirconia was a Russian creation to aid in their space program. They were developed specifically as a diamond replacement to be installed in their optical devices. But the only way they could be used is if they had the hardness, dispersion, and the infraction index closely related to diamond characteristics. What was found is the CZ provided the same effectiveness and efficiency needed for their optical devices, and in a few years the diamond was ruled out altogether with.

As a result of this, cubic zirconia can be substituted in any place a diamond can be found. Likewise cubic zirconia gemstones can also be used in other pieces of jewelry, like necklaces and ear rings. After knowing these facts, the differences between the two, you can have better knowledge to complete this task. If you are meaning to tell the difference between cubic zirconia and diamonds, you will likely find a microscope or loupe will assist you in making this determination.

There are a couple items you'll need to understand about diamonds, as well as cubic zirconia, in order to precisely gather the data necessary to be able to tell the difference. Some of these characteristics are impurities or defects, hardness, weight, color, and brilliance to describe a few. Most qualities of a gemstone are key features in identifying whether or not a cubic zirconia is not a diamond and vice versa. As a result of the way cubic zirconia is created, it will not be as hard, it will weigh a little more, they will contain less defects than diamonds do, the colors will not be as brilliant, and it will disperses light in a unique way.

All of these facts are necessary so that you are prepared before taking the plunge. Even though some low grade cubic zirconia gives the industry a bad rap, there are higher grades that will easily impress those with the most discerning of tastes.
