So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Get Ready For BBQ Season!

By Richard Bucket

Barbecuing has been a tradition in America for many years, so it is no surprise that approximately 40% of the nations people love to host a barbecue party. And 90% of the american population attend these informal backyard gatherings every year.

It's the smell and the taste of the food that everyone loves. Before you eat you can chat with others and you can eagerly wait for the food while you smell it being cooked.

An assortment of entrees and side dishes can be prepared using a barbecue grill. Beef, pork, chicken and fish are all commonly grilled as an entree. To find meat cut specifically for grilling, look for meats that are specially packaged for barbecuing. If you want to season your own meats for the grill, tasty marinades and spices are often located near the fresh meat.

If you want to follow tradition and create standard side dishes spotted at a barbecue, you will want to make coleslaw, baked beans, and potato salad. On the plate with a nice delicious, well cooked piece of meat, these side dishes taste complementary.

When making hamburgers or hot dogs, it is essential not to forget the condiments. Many enjoy pickles, relish, onions, mustard, and ketchup.

There are two different types of barbecue grills. The first, the charcoal and smoker grills instill the delicious smoky flavor that is famously known as the traditional barbecue flavor. Smoker grills are more versatile that charcoal grills because different types of wood creates differences in flavor. The second type of grill, the propane grill still instills a flame cooked flavor, but does not create as strong of a smokiness as the other grills. An added bonus of the propane grill is that the meat cooks faster, which is great when pressed for time or when you are cooking for large groups.

Barbecuing is popular because it creates a wonderful reason to host a party with friends or family.

One of the beauties of a barbecue is that the cook is surrounded by the guests and everyone builds anticipation for the scrumptious meal while they visit.

The scene doesn't have to be bland either. If you want to throw a get together around the outdoor grill, consider making it themed. It is easy to create a beach theme with tablecloths, Tiki torches, and even tropical music.

Cooking on the grill does indeed require practice. It is not unusual for a beginner, or unfocused cook to blacken the food and turn it into a hard, black, crunchy mess. When the skill is mastered however, unique recipes created by you, and only served in your backyard can keep guests talking even after the party is over.

While barbecuing usually occurs during the warm summer months when it is enjoyable to be outside, some truly devoted barbequers won't bat an eye at throwing a steak on the grill in the dead of winter. Yes, it's that good.
