So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

What's An Artificial Fireplace And Why Should I Buy One?

By Ben Mester

Synthesised fireplaces, also known as ventless fireplaces, are a recent development that is beginning to gain lots of acceptance. Employing a compound called gel fuel, which is often an isopropyl alcohol based substance, ventless fireplaces are still able to deliver not only the aesthetic value of a traditional fireplace, but can also house the fire itself.

How is that possible, since artificial fireplaces do not use a vent? That is where the isopropyl alcohol comes in handy. Thanks to the molecular structure of the isopropyl alcohol molecule, when combusted, it doesn't produce any poisonous or unsafe smoke. It burns purely, not giving off any smells or dangerous chemicals.

Cans of gel fuel are placed in the artificial fireplace's aparatus, and then lit on fire. Each can burns for roughly three hours and provides both the beauty and heat that comes from a fire. Though not nearly as warm as a normal fireplace that burns either wood or natural gas, gel fuel still puts out a reasonably high level of BTUs.

For people who like the beauty and aesthetic value of an indoor fire, but do not have a fireplace, an artificial fireplace can be a great way to go. They're fairly cheap to buy and do not need any installation usually, unless you buy the in-wall variety. Most slide nicely and neatly up against the wall and give a home the beauty of a conventional fireplace, and the ability to house real fire without needing to mess around with installing a vent.

The sole possible downside that I can find to an artificial fireplace is that gel fuel can be costlier than wood or natural gas. So if you plan on using your artificial fireplace frequently you will want to take that factor into consideration. But apart from that, ventless fireplaces are an awesome invention, cheaply and easily bringing the beauty of a nice fire into your home.
