So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Brief Overview Of Why People Drink And Drive

By Dona Roma

Researchers who are dedicated to finding out specifically why people DUI Lawyers certainly have their work cut out for them. Often, the answers are hard to tease out, and there are usually both primary and secondary factors. Taken together, they will form a general picture of why people get behind the wheel after drinking.

Some men and women simply do not believe that they are driving under the influence. They may tell themselves that they are fine, and may even feel fine. Their judgment in these situations is off, though, and they are not thinking correctly. Thus they head out on to the road and cause potentially fatal accidents.

Peer pressure has always been a tough hurdle to overcome. Friends that are irresponsible may influence others to also act irresponsibly. This is especially true with driving under the influence. People may be convinced by a friend that they can drive, and it may be hard to resist. Resisting can bring shame in the face of other group members.

Family members may also indicate to individuals that it may be fine to drink and drive. This is generally the case with parents who are alcoholics. Young children may see a parent coming home to the house drunk, and thus will think this is an appropriate action. When a child reaches the proper driving age, he/she may repeat the actions of the parent.

Depression may play a role as well. There have been countless instances over the years when drivers generally know when they are impaired, but will not care to do anything about it. Perhaps because of personal problems, they have become numb to the pain and no longer try to act responsibly. In these cases it is very possible that an intervention may be needed.

Individuals may also not know the legal alcohol limit in their state. If they do not know exactly what the law is, then they may actually be ignorant that they are breaking the law. Some basic information from someone qualified to give it may be the ticket to getting them back on the right track in life. Usually, a run-in with a law enforcement officer will do the trick.

Attending a wild party or special occasion is another way in which people may become drunk and irresponsible. Birthday parties, graduations, and other events are times of celebration, and an individual who does not usually take in alcohol may quickly find that he/she is having problems. Having little experience with alcohol, the person may mistakenly think it is OK to drive.

In finding out why people drink and drive, there is no absolute answer. Rather, a combination of factors usually exists, and all of them may play some role. If one or more factors can be identified in a specific individual, then there is a much better chance that an intervention can be worked out and lives possibly saved.
