So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Celebrity Style - Ring the Changes

By Abigail Collins

Rings are there to be your faithful companion and make you look good. You don't need Prince Charming to get down on one knee and present your dream ring in a little box; you can still accentuate your outfit and finalise your look with a well-selected ring.

A ring is a statement. A design such as a fisherman's ring, or a Russian wedding ring can represent something you believe in, a friendship ring will remind you of a loved one, a diamond says 'I love you', but sometimes, all you want is a great ring which will go with your dress, or pull together your whole outfit.

There is a huge range of inexpensive materials for jewellery. Instead of real diamonds and rubies, there are great quality crystals, glass, cubic zirconia, and other semi-precious stones to make your ring look spectacular. Metals, such as gold or silver-plated brass, sterling silver or vermeil replace the real thing without compromising on looks. Some inventive designers even use plastic, wood or cloth to make highly unique, fun and beautiful accessories.

Cheryl Cole knows that people are always fascinated by her ring choice - the press is obsessed over which finger any rings are on due to the drama surrounding her marriage. Seeing as even her hands are talked about, she gracefully distracts attention from whether or not there is anything on her ring finger and to some statement rings that deserve being discussed! Cheryl proves how personal rings can be when she designed her own ring with the word 'promise' engraved into it.

Pop music's fairy queen, Pixie Lott rocks out with gothic silver rings, overly adorable statement bunny rings and even a P3 Scrabble-letter-turned-ring on her dainty hands. Pixie shows that anything can be made into fashion. She also loves organising crystals together to look like diamonds, roses and uses red stained glass for a contemporary and edgy look.

Kim Kardashian has an engagement ring, from basketball luminary Kris Humphries, that's rumoured to be worth $2million! Nonetheless, Kim has been photographed still happily wearing costume jewellery, such as flashy crystals that counteract the real deal. And for those who follow Kim's style, there are great copied diamond designs sold for a margin of the price.

Over the last century, great style icons have made particular styles of costume jewellery famous, from the art deco period through retro, and into more modern styles. Nowadays, you can choose from a one-off special, a mass-produced ring to unite you with your society, loved one, or friends, or find a copy of famous rings worn by fashion icons of the past, like Elizabeth Taylor, Coco Chanel or the Duchess of Windsor. If you want to channel modern royalty, you can find a copy of the late Princess Diana's engagement ring for little more than the price of a light lunch.

But if, like Cheryl, Kim and Pixie, you're a modern woman, why not ring the changes and accessorise your clothes, and your hands, with a little piece of your personality.
