So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Where to go in the south of France

By Yolanda Brunel

The south of France is the perfect holiday destination. First of all it has a glorious climate, with long summer days all the way through to October, making it perfect for going outdoors and seeing the wonderful natural beauty of the place, winding down with a long lazy evening meal. There are so many things to discover there that it would be impossible to list them all here. What follows is a brief look at just some of the options of where to go in the south of France.

Nice is among the best places to go to really get your teeth into some French culture. It is certainly the place to go if you are into your art, and in this sense can only really be rivalled by the likes of Paris. There you will find some excellent modern specimens from Pop Art and New Realism, found at the Muse d'Art Moderne et d'Art Contemporain; whereas the older biblical themed paintings at Muse National Message Biblique Marc Chagall will take your breath away.

Another truly great southern French city is Arles. It has a visible Roman heritage in the form of an ancient Theatre, Amphitheatre and Forum. And it was also where the like of Van Gogh and Paul Gauguin were based back when they were both a part of the 'Studio of the South'. And it was while he was there that Van Gogh painted some of his most famous works. This city is truly beautiful and fascinating and should be visited by anyone exploring the south of France.

Another must see item is the Canal du Midi, which is just beautiful. It is a tree lined canal that stretches from the city of Toulouse, all the way to the Mediterranean, meaning it is the largest place to be part of the UNESCO World Heritage list. To experience it you should take a leisurely walk, cycle or boat ride down it.

There are plenty of other places worthy of mention, but to mention them all would be to never stop writing. The south of France, wherever you go within it, is a glorious and interesting place to go.
