So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Have You Ever Thought About How Hard It Is To Scrap A Car?

By Kevin Wray

There is one registered car for every two people in the UK and that adds up to an astounding 30 million vehicles in the country. Something has to be done with all the cars that become so old and worn out they have outlived the ability to be useful. As many as two million cars a year are reduced to scrap, which adds up to about six percent of the total number. With the way the economy has been going recently, the number of cars being registered has leveled off and some feel they have actually declined. The number of vehicles scrapped is greater than the number manufactured in the country in recent years.

Most people do not think about how difficult it is to reduce a vehicle to a pile of scrap. This massive object made out of metal cannot be disposed of easily. It is impossible to burn. There are regulations in place that prohibit anyone from dumping a vehicle at a landfill or anywhere else. European laws require that 85% of the materials scrapped from a vehicle be recycled in some way.

Estimates indicate that one-tenth of all hazardous waste is found to be from automobiles. Metal is one thing but vehicles contain a number of liquids including brake fluid, oil and petrol. These substances are hazardous and can pollute the environment if carelessly dumped. A professionally licensed dealer must follow a precise process to rid the vehicle of all harmful substances before it is crushed. All fluids are completely drained following specific instructions. All fixtures not made of metal must be removed as well. These tasks require skill and experience that not everyone possesses.

There are several countries that are finding use for this metal. With so many vehicles on the road and rules to protect the environment, there is a growing market. Countries like China buy the scrap metal and recycle the material. The price for this metal has increased dramatically since the beginning of the 21st century. Businesses that specialize in this industry are opening up in several locations in the UK.

Therefore, the good news for vehicle owners with damaged cars that are no longer road worthy, is that there are a number of licenced scrap car dealers in the UK who can pay you to take away your problem. They will be willing to pay you a proportion of the money they will make on the scrap weight value of your vehicle, towing the vehicle away for you. Problem solved and money in your pocket.
