So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Thanksgiving is a period of celebration of when the initial English settlers to America came here, and commemorated their entrance with the native Americans with an incredible feast in 1621. Thanksgiving has become commemorated on the fourth Thursday of November.

Nowadays Thanksgiving is a feast. A special event of anything and everything we are thankful for in the past year. This feast usually calls for a turkey, similar to the days the Pilgrims arrived in Plymouth and had supper with the native Americans.

Thanksgiving has been celebrated annually as of 1863, and is traditionally and in times past been observed as giving gratefulness to God. It's thought that the first Thanksgiving was thanks to God for living through the first ferocious winter by the pilgrims in Plymouth.

The initial feast was held up to three days (!) with 53 original pilgrims and 90 native Americans. They contributed a feast of poultry, deer, fish, lobster, clams, wild berries, pumpkin, squash and local fruit.

This provides you an idea of how the foods on our Thanksgiving table arrived. It is stated that there were tons of turkeys on that table, so you'll be able to imagine where they arrived from.
