So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Dreadful Allergies and Choosing the Right Flooring: What You Want to Understand

By Cana F Loorie

When you or someone in your own family has severe allergies, it puts a totally new spin on decision-making. Allergies can play a big, unwanted role in all kinds of choices, from everyday decisions like when to spend time in the yard, to bigger choices like what kinds of home enhancements you can do. And while accommodating for allergies in everyday situations isn't so bad, things can get trickier when it comes to large things like having new flooring installed. Because with a decision like this, it's not just about the costs of hardwood floors or carpet - it is also about stuff like what sorts of flooring provides the best indoor air quality.

Due to this, if somebody in your own family has dreadful allergies, it's very important to research how different sorts of flooring affect indoor air quality. For instance, your first assumption could be that carpet has a detrimental effect on indoor air quality, which is something that many folk think. Actually research has shown that carpet basically improves indoor air quality, by trapping dust and allergenic substances in the carpet until they can be vacuumed up. Hard surface floors aren't able to trap antigens like this, and so rooms with hard surface floors really have worse air quality than rooms with carpeting.

Naturally, this doesn't suggest that hardwood surfaces are not safe for folk with allergies, or that carpet is the only flooring that's safe for folks with allergies. What this means is that before you select new flooring for your house, you want to investigate how different types of flooring, and different types of each type, affect indoor air quality.

For example, if you are positive that you need carpeting in your home, there are a few different carpet brands that are specially made to have as few fluctuating natural chemicals (VOCs) as practicable. VOCs may cause emissions that cause all kinds of issues for those with serious allergies, including rashes and respiration distress.

But which low VOCs carpet brand supplies the best indoor air quality? Here's where doing your homework will come into play. First, decide what type of flooring you want for your flooring project. Then, spend a while researching the different brands of that type of flooring, in particular trying to find info about how their products affect indoor air quality.
