So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Welcome To The Realm Of Medieval Weaponry

By Natalia Navarro

History is quite interesting to a number of people, and not just to historians. There are those that border on obsession when it comes to particular time periods. Or, they could be more interested on topics, like medieval weaponry, for example.

The moment you read the phrase, the dark ages, a mental image would come up. And almost always, this would consist of knights and castles. Then, chivalry might come up along with how gallant most were, during those times. And those are the kinds of things that one would associate with the dark ages.

But, there are also other things that one can associate with this period. This is also a period where most of the finest literary works were made. It also served as a transition period from the ancient times to the modern times. Many things were crafted, whether architecture or warfare. And when it comes to warfare, they have certainly made many things that are quite distinct.

During this period, you would wield certain items if you did not belong to the peasants. They use for both defense and offense. Because of the continued search for wealth and power, these items would lead to brutal events wherein knights would serve their liege.

The most popular would have to be swords. And, there is not just one type. There are arming swords. Some are broad, others are long. There are even more. But they all would most likely be paired with a shield.

There are also blunt hand weapons that look more menacing than the sleek lances. The mace is the most popular. Its design could look as simple as the typical club, or more intricate with spikes, like the morning stars variety.

There are still other great examples of medieval weaponry that can be found. Now, you may be researching mostly because you want to know more. But, you may also be looking forward to owning some of them. Whether for authentic items or more for role-playing, careful consideration is needed. Make sure you get them from reliable merchants who can provide a guarantee that their items are authentic and or of great quality.
