So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Allays My Worries - Super Antivirus Software Critique

By Charlotte Brooks

I have been using the Norton security products for many years, and I have been for the most part very satisfied with them. The one gripe I have is that every year when I go to renew my subscription, I find that I can purchase new copies of the software for less than the renewal price.

Once installed, it just slips into the background and does its work. It's inconspicuous.

This is the way to go, and I will recommend this product to others. We have been running Norton internet security for the last couple of years and the product works very well. Shame on you Symantec! I have been using Norton Antivirus/Internet security for years now (on 3 PCs running XP) and the big turnaround for the past few years with 'light' software has been great.

Other virus scans did not detect that virus. All of the computers are running much faster and cleaner now.

So far, after 2 installs it seems to be working okay. I really like this product over the "other one" out there it let viruses in my wife's computer and good value when you buy the 3 install version. I'm so happy with this product. Since my subscription is up in two weeks, I'm going to upgrade to the 360.

After trying to figure out how to install on a PC without a CD drive, it was easy to install. My version that I purchased came with a CD.

It's easy to install and very simple to select desired features. Once you have it set up it disappears into the background. For those who have complained that installing Norton takes away your remaining subscription time for your current Norton product, I fully agree that is unacceptable. I can only assume that the new installation wipes the old installation and therefore resets the subscription to 365 days, regardless of whether you had days remaining on your existing Norton subscription. That's when it hit the fan. I got the Blue Screen of Death and could not, despite several tries in various "Safe" modes, get the machine to boot up. For instance, it tells me if a particular program (like Firefox or Explorer) is hogging up an unusual amount of memory. It adds a "reputation" scan to determine the reliability and trustworthiness of your existing programs. The memory-resident protection takes up 1-2% of CPU cycles at most. When Norton is actively scanning for security threats (QuickScan or Full System Scan), it takes up 25% of CPU cycles at most. I prefer purchasing directly from Amazon whenever possible. Their prices are always competitive and their customer service is top notch - bar none. I thought I'd try Norton Internet Security based on some good reviews from Consumer Reports and elsewhere on the Internet. I'm glad I did.
