So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

The Enhanced 2012 Honda Civic Hybrid Automobile

By Tyler Corton

The Superior 2012 Honda Civic Hybrid Automobile

The 2012 Honda Civic Hybrid has enhanced its gas economy from 41 mpg to 44 mpg and is now using a lithium-ion battery for power. The Civic Hybrid is currently in second-place for fuel economy for cars that continue to rely on fossil fuels. With all the increase in mileage, the Civic is closer to the Prius, and now ahead of the Lexus CT 200h. Since the Civic Hybrid isn't a hatchback, Honda boasts that it is the most fuel-efficient sedan on US highways.

The Integrated Motor Assist happens to be the fifth released hybrid powertrain system that the 2012 Civic Hybrid uses, which is thin, pancake like electronic motor/generator. The device resembles Ford and Toyota where it facilitates the gasoline engine by being sandwiched between the transmission and engine. The electric motor supports the gas engine however it can be powered by electric on it's own for short distances. All engine components still keep moving even when the car runs temporarily on electric power. When the car stops the engine shuts off, and then starts up again when it's time to go, like other hybrid vehicles.

Typically the 2012 Civic Hybrid features a larger gasoline engine, together with the shift to lithium-ion batteries. Despite the boost from 1.3-liter engine to 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, the horsepower from both electric and gas remain the same. The engine works at reduced RPMs because of the larger displacement, which delivers a quieter ride by having the electric motor used more frequently. Every element of the hybrid model was modified, like the increase of the motor output from 15kw to 20kw. Plastic spacers and widely spaced coils and magnets help the system to better control the temperature. The horsepower for the motor has been accelerated by three horsepower to 23 horsepower.

The nickel-metal hydride battery has been replaced by the better 20-kw Li-ion battery, which is 5 kw more and 30% lighter. With the battery's 35% increase in efficiency and the IMA system's greater power, the Civic Hybrid now has the capability of using only electric motor power more often, in certain times of cruising at low speeds. Aided by the move to lithium battery, the problems that plagued the previous battery should now be resolved. Finishing the IMA system is going to be the continuously variable transmission. The transmission functions just like a 10-speed bicycle which includes a drive pulley and a driven pulley which are linked with a steel belt. This is a combination of a manual transmission and also a conventional geared automatic transmission.

The 2012 Civic Hybrid has certainly earned its place among the best hybrid cars with its upgraded battery and improved fuel efficiency. This particular improvement has definitely made Prius look over its shoulder.
