So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Luxurious And Uncommon Mens White Gold Rings

By Adrian Jones

Celtic Cross Necklace - Most Popular For Xmas

Mens white gold rings are among the most lavish items that Orkney jewellery designers hand-make to order. In addition a Celtic cross necklace is among the most other most well-liked high-end items in those ranges. But while mens white gold rings might be one hundred pounds or more, today a world record was made for the most expensive private assortment of gems offered for sale at public auction.

During the summer time it was announced that Elizabeth Taylor's Jewellery Collection was to be sold by Christie's in New York. But never in the auction house's wildest hopes and dreams did it suppose the 269 items would sell for 74million.

The late movie screen goddess usually wore a ring set with the 33.29 carat Elizabeth Taylor Diamond gifted to her by Richard Burton in 1968. It fetched 5,643,840, that's 2-3 times over the appraisal. But there were other more costly pieces.

Mens White Gold Rings - Specially Made To Order

A 16th century pendant which had previously belonged to the Spanish noble household, featuring a huge pearl droplet fetched approximately 7.6million. The pearl, later set into a diamond and ruby necklace, often known as La Peregrina, was purchased for her by Burton in 1969. Previously it was estimated to be sold for as much as 1.95million but was bought for 7.6m, a world record for the gem.

The pear-shaped pearl was in the past owned by Mary Tudor, whose mother was the Spanish-born Katherine of Aragon, and later by Spanish queens Margarita and Isabel. La Peregrina, has long been represented in fine art for centuries and once was painted by the 17th century Spanish artist Velazquez. Burton bought the pearl in 1969 at auction for 23,800. The actress then requested Cartier to design a ruby-and-diamond necklace mount for that piece.

Excitement mounted inside the auction in the week right after the first lot, a gold and gem bracelet priced at roughly 22,500 was sold for 174,000. Plus an ivory and gold necklace realised well over 100 times its appraisal of 1,300 at 203,000. A purchaser paid 387,000 for a diamond and sapphire ring presented to the actress by her friend the late Michael Jackson. The renowned Taj Mahal diamond, the next gift from Burton to Dame Elizabeth for her 40th birthday, was sold for 5.7m, an all-time record for any Indian jewel.

A a pretty tiara given to her by her 3rd husband Mike Todd in 1957 fetched 2.7 million - about six to eight times its appraisal. The record-breaking sale follows a trend for 2011 of auction jewellery hitting much higher prices compared to the estimates. A part of the proceeds made by this sale will go to The Elizabeth Taylor Aids Foundation.

All of this definitely makes the cost of our own range of mens white gold rings very moderate. They're worn to proclaim marriages which more often than not last a lot longer than Dame Elizabeth's, who got hitched 8 times, including twice to Burton.
