So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

A Perfect Solution For Me - Cheapest Netbook Review

By Dylan Walker

I have older Toshiba laptops with excellent experience, in fact they are still working (WIN98, 450Mb HD, 64Mb RAM)! I decided to take the risk and bought the netbook from Amazon. The amount of bloatware from Toshiba is crazy! There are a bunch of apps that you really don't need on a netbook like this. It's a neat, small, well-built netbook that should satisfy basic needs like web browsing and emails. The NB505 is a nicely constructed netbook. The DDR3 has its notch about an inch from the end of the module. The DDR2 has its notch about a half inch from the end of the module. Error said no Operating System. Toshiba technical support said it was either that an OS wasn't loaded or the hard drive is bad.

I would consider myself a power user of Word and Excel and use this machine easily for both. With a "cloud" service to manage documents it is very seamless to use this machine to be productive on the road. Plenty of other reviews here have said so, so I'll refrain from redundancy. The purpose of my review is to alert those of you planning to immediately upgrade the RAM from 1GB to 2GB.

The sound is the only week point I could find in the whole package. Not very loud and the speakers are poor quality. I have downloaded Open Office which I highly recommend - free, easy to use and totally compatible with MS Office documents. In any event it booted immediately and the initial setup went smoothly as did uninstalling and installing programs.

To be honest, I was slightly skeptical about its 1GB of RAM and 1.66 GHz processor. After opening it up, booting it, and fiddling around with it a bit, I was pleasantly surprised! The best browser to use is Google chrome I have figured out. I never experience lag, can run several applications at once.

I was worried that with such little RAM it might be difficult to multitask and/or keep open multiple internet tabs, but it handled several Firefox windows with several tabs a piece just fine. It also showed no problems when I added playing music (using Foobar playing FLAC). The touchpad buttons on my NB505 seem to drop sometimes even while pressed (it could just be me), IMO they could have been designed better. And, in case anyone even mentions the fact that the hi-resolution isn't supported, well it is!

The screen is easy to see in all levels of light. The keyboard is a bit smaller than normal, but I found it easy to get used to it and now can type on it just as fast as I can on a regular sized keyboard.

The slick rubbery blue cover also makes it easy to grip and very nice to look at. I was debating on getting a 32GB Wi-Fi iPad for traveling but just don't like the virtual keyboard concept and am glad to have gone with this unit instead especially since I saved more money as well.
