So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Bistro Tournesol: Review

By Elli Davis

What could probably be lovelier than a succulent dinner followed by a pleasant evening of theatre? Not very much springs to mind. Luckily Bistro Tournesol has partnered up with the Tarragon Theatre to make that definite combination practicable. Found at 406 Dupont Street, Bistro Tournesol is literally just around the corner from the theatre. Its location is also convenient as it is just a 2 minute walk from the Dupont subway station.

The trattoria is dimly lit, retro style makes it the best place to take a seat for a passionate dinner or intimate gathering of best friends. Immediately on entering, staff are there to take your coat and show you to your table. The servers are efficient and quick to tend to the requirements of their guests. They are also very good at getting familiar with their regulars and are very pleased to address their particular requests.

The bistro features a two course meal for $29.00 that changes frequently. As your first course you can enjoy something light such as a fresh green salad or go for more decadent options such as mussels or escargots. For your 2nd course, a great variety of high quality meat are available such as a piece of fresh Atlantic salmon or an aged Canadian AAA Angus striploin steak. Care for a personal endorsement? Kick off with a crab and fish cake and then enjoy the house smoked chicken with pasta as your main. They are two rare dishes you surely will not get an opportunity to try anywhere else. Not certain 2 courses will fill you up?

Luckily , the meal starts off with warm focaccia and a complementary bowl of potato and yam frites is garnished with the mains. You can choose from a variety of appetisers and puddings to make certain you are satisfied.

Bistro Tournesol is open from 5:30 p.m. To 10 p.m. Tuesday thru Sat.. It's not open Sun. or Monday. The eatery is so popular among the theatre-going crowd that a reservation is a necessity. Give them a call or e-mail them to make sure you get a seat!
