So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Cooking Made Simple With Tips Anyone Can Use

By Annalise Jessica Sanchez

Possessing good culinary skills is a valuable asset. Homemade food is not only better for you, but affords you the chance to save some dollars.

Before you begin to cook, you must make sure that your kitchen utensils are clean. Any leftover food post-washing can ruin whatever you plan on cooking next. This can allow harmful bacteria to spread.

It is important to take proper care of wood cutting boards. Wooden cutting boards can warp and split if they are exposed to heat and moisture or if they are stored in an excessively dry area. Don't submerge your board in water to clean it. Use a sponge and warm soapy water instead. You can find oil designed for cutting boards to maintain yours. Be sure to let your cutting board dry completely before you use it again.

Microwave your citrus fruit before juicing it to get every last drop of juice. Heat up your citrus fruits for about ten seconds. After the fruit is done microwaving, roll it on the counter before you cut it.

Garlic aromas can transfer to your hands and be hard to get rid of. After using garlic or other foods with odors that stick to your hands, all you need to do is rub your hands on a piece of stainless steel, like your sink. You will clean your hands and stop smells from rubbing off on other foods.

When you put flour or other baking needs away, put them in a vacuum seal holder. Foods stored in airtight containers remain fresh longer due to lack of exposure to air. In addition, the foods will be protected from insect infestations. These are carried in many stores and make a wise investment.

When preparing simple, understated dishes, always opt for fresh herbs and spices. Dried herbs like oregano and basil are generally more appropriate for highly complicated dishes with varied flavors. For the more simple fare, fresh herbs will impart a more robust flavor. Starting an herb garden is an excellent way to make sure that fresh herbs are always on hand.

When you want to cook a pumpkin, stand it on its end and slice it in half. Place each half on a baking sheet. Pour a little water on some baking sheets and bake the pumpkin for about 1 hour at 350 F.

Include some salt in the water when you make pasta. Adding salt at this stage will ensure that the pasta absorbs it completely. Salting pasta after cooking will not be as effective in enhancing the flavor.

Learning how to prepare homemade food is easy with these helpful tips. With applied effort and new skills, you can quickly come to appreciate flavorful, healthy meals that also improve your finances. One more advantage of homecooked meals is better nutrition for your family. Apply these tips, and prepare delicious homemade meals today!
