So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Proper Care For Your Tires Means Safety And Fuel Savings

By Jennifer Bowers

Before going anywhere, you must first check your tires' condition. With well-maintained tires, your car will not only be safer but it will also last longer plus you get to save money at the gas pump.

To have safe travels all year long and keep your tires in good shape, follow these simple tips.

When it comes to tires, choose carefully. Selection of tires should be based on loading and size recommendations of the vehicle. Ask an automobile dealer about the proper tire that's to used on your vehicle and typical driving patterns.

Keep a tire gauge handy in your car at all times. This device will provide information about when to add more air to your tires.

Checking your tire pressure is required once a month or when you've just taken a long trip. Damages that can lead to tire failure are caused by underinflation. While overinflation cause uneven wear and handling and stopping problems as well. Therefore, it's important to use as a guide the manufacturer's recommended air pressure.

Slow down during wet weather. There's better traction if your speed decreases because the tire's footprint, or amount of the tire's tread contacting the road surface, increases.

For every 6,000 miles, try to rotate your tires. If you noticed your tires showing uneven wear, then you need to ask your automotive service professional to correct any mechanical problems involved before rotation.

You also need to periodically check your vehicle alignment. Ask an automotive professional to check the alignment if you notice that your vehicle is pulling to one side.

Don't forget to measure and inspect your tire tread. You'll know it's time to replace your tires if you place a penny in the tread groove and you notice that you can see the top of Lincoln's head.

You also need to check the sidewalls of the tire to make sure there are no irregularities like gouges or bulges.

Make sure you don't overload your vehicle for it will cause excessive heat inside your tires.

Your tire balance is another thing you need to periodically check. Causes of irregular wear include an unbalanced tire and wheel assembly.

Regular checking of your tires would mean keeping your vacation drives safe and enjoyable as well as affordable.
