So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

By Roxane J. Talisen

Being able to prepare good dishes could help you bond with your family, lose weight and save money. Use the following tips as a guide to help you become a better cook.

Did you ever feel guilty for tossing moldy fruits in the garbage? Should you save the moldy fruit and cut away the bad parts? Half-rotten fruit is not save worthy. There is no way to use this food without compromising your health. Mold grows inward to places that you can't even see and can make you sick so throw moldy fruit in the garbage.

Learn how to use color as a guide to cooking. Meals that are full of color are healthy and visually stunning. Accentuate your dishes with cherry tomatoes, carrot slices, or parsley for a pop of color. By being creative with the colors you use, you'll notice that people will be rushing to eat them.

Freeze meat partially to facilitate slicing meat into thin strips. This technique is especially useful for the meat slicing styles typically used in Asian cuisine. Uncooked meat is easier to cut when it is partially frozen. However, to make sure that the meat cooks evenly, take the time to let it thaw out prior to cooking.

It is important to properly care for your wooden cutting board. Heat, dryness, and excess moisture can cause a wooden cutting board to warp and split. It is important to never immerse a wooden cutting board entirely in water. Using a sponge soaked in warm, soapy water is the best way to clean it. Use an oil specifically formulated for cutting boards to restore and protect wooden boards. Make sure that your board is completely dry before you use it.

Use ketchup in batters for fried foods. You can either dip your food in ketchup once it is cooked, or before adding breadcrumbs. The ketchup makes your fried foods tangier, which will make your friends and family wonder how you achieved such a flavor infusion.

Being organized is a key step when planning to prepare a meal for family or friends. Double-check to make sure you have all the necessary ingredients. It is not too much to get your meals ready the day before. Make sure you have the necessary utensils. Did you think of everything? With the right groundwork, you can enter your kitchen confidently and get right to work whipping up a fantastic meal.

A large family gathering is stressful enough, even without the cooking! However, if you are cooking for a large group, you might benefit from a little advice. Start your preparation the day before so that you are not overwhelmed with stress. Cutting vegetables, marinating meat and mixing dips a day in advance will give you more time to enjoy your guests and decrease your stress level.

Food is the very basis of life, and it can have amazing power. Impress all of the people who matter in your life by implementing the tips you learned here.
