So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Useful Information On Sprecher & Schuh Contactors

By Elinor Tran

Contactors, like relays, switch devices or circuits, but unlike relays they handle high currents. They're particularly important therefore for the circuits carrying big loads, like capacitors, motors, heating circuits and industrial lighting. Sprecher & Schuh contactors control any break arcs, and control currents running above 15 amps. Larger devices handle up to many kilovolts.

Dealing with both alternating and direct currents, they have a much higher capacity than relays and can be connected directly to power-heavy, high load equipment. So, for example, the lighting circuit in an office block will almost certainly use a contactor. Sprecher and Schuh sell contactors that meet demanding UL standards, or those with good IEC ratings; both international standards.

The company is a world-renowned engineering firm, with its roots in 1903 Switzerland. Its focus has always been on electrical control and protection devices. The original founders, Carl Sprecher and Heinrich Schuh, were pioneers in voltage control. Their products are amongst the most reliable in the world, not just meeting but exceeding the industry standard.

So this is an established engineering firm that can be trusted. S&S quality assurance is incredibly rigorous, so they have ISO 9001. This standard is tested every three years at the factory. The company is dedicated to great customer service and engineering quality. Their operations now run in Australasia, North America and Mexico, plus Europe.

There are both open, non-reversing and reversing contactors available. In fact, the company manufactures more than twenty different contactor sizes. Each is, on average, around a third smaller than traditional contactors designed to deal with the same power load. With the choice available, you should be able to find the right contactor for your particular application. If not, it can be custom made for you.

The range includes CA5s, CA6s, CA7s and CA8s, depending on your needs. The CA5, for example, deals with horsepower in motors from 500 to 900. That's equivalent to between 460 and 575 volts. For serious, heavy duty industries such as mining, this is the contactor of choice. Though is rugged and endures so well, Sprecher & Schuh's contactor is actually 40% smaller than those from other suppliers. For space saving plus reliability this is an ideal choice.

At the other end when it comes to voltage, designed for motors running up to 75hp, CA7s are more appropriate. Ten different versions of the CA7 are manufactured - some only 45mm wide. That's real performance; real control, in one tiny package. CA6s in the mid-range are ideal for industrial or office applications such as elevators, big heating installations, industrial refrigeration and quarrying.

Throughout Europe and North America, sprecher & schuh contactors can be used to afford real safety for big motor applications. Whether for AC or DC currents, type 1 and type 2 short circuit coordinators, these are the flexible and reliable kit of choice. They quickly control potentially damaging arcs. There is a wealth of information for all potential customers on the companies user-friendly website.
