So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

How To Examine Second Hand Cars

By Michael Locke

It is tricky to buy used cars. The intention of the buyer is to own a second hand vehicle whose condition is the closest possible to that of a new car. However, such types are not easily available, since most of the pre-owned cars availed for sale either have serious or minor issues, which the buyer has to consider. Minor issues are those that can be easily be repaired while serious problems require that the buyer directs his interest at a better vehicle.

Top on the checklist of a pre-owned motorcar is its history. This should reveal the car's service record; maintenance works performed on it, the number of recorded accidents it was involved in, and possible flood damage. It is necessary to check the car's mileage to ensure that the odometer has not been rolled back. Missing history records or large gaps between entries should draw the attention of the buyer.

An inspection of the exterior of the automobile is necessary. This reveals poorly performed repairs and maintenance on its body, including curb damage on tires, spoiled wipers and irregularly painted surfaces. Poor paint work in the form of varying color shades is often evidence of repainting after involvement in an accident.

An inspection of the interior of the vehicle is essential. Common signs of negligence in maintenance of a vehicle include tear and wear on seats and interior surfaces. This can also be the case where cracks and blemishes are present on the trim. Presence of properly functioning jack and a spare wheel that is in satisfactory condition are signs of adequate care by the current owner. All windows should also exhibit silent movement and uniform operating speed.

The engine is among the crucial parts of pre-owned cars requiring checking. The hoses should be checked for stiffness and brittleness with the engine turned off. Inappropriately sheathed wires, loose hose clamps, poorly maintained battery terminals and clamps, cracked belts and fluid leaks are signs of negligence on the seller's part. The life of the battery and its timing belt should not be more than four years.

Tests should be carried out on the chassis and underbody of a pre-owned car. These involves checking for missing or broken inner fender shields, uneven wear on any of the tires, oil coats on any of the shock absorbers and worn out brake pads. There should not be any rust on underbody surfaces.

A lot of considerations have to be made when intending to purchase a used car. This article, however, points out just a few of them and covers them shallowly. It is recommended that any buyer involves a professional mechanic, who shall prescribe more tests and help the former make an informed decision.
