So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Important Details About The Jaguar Tensioner

By Chloe Gib

Between the years 1997 and 2004 Jaguar did not only design their cars they also produced the engines that powered them. Many people will attest that the cars were well engineered. However slight problems were reported by many customers who bought the cars. When the engine was started a rattling sound was experienced. The sound disappeared after the engine ran for a while. This sound was reported to be caused by the Jaguar timing chain. Aging of the upper chain of the jaguar tensioner was reported to contribute to this problem.

When the vehicles were made the tensioner was designed to apply a light force on the timing chain. The engine oil would be pressured using a non return valve to do this. Initially this worked out well and no rattling was experienced. As the vehicles aged the oil would flow to the tensioner though the piston. Stored pressure was then reduced.

Other problems of the Jag cars originated from the timing chains. These problems were not very easy to fix. It is recommended that you take your car to a garage unless you have the right skills and tools to fix it yourself. These problems originate from the plastic facing which should push against the timing chain. This plastic becomes fragile and eventually breaks up with time as the car ages.

After the plastic facing becomes frail the chain will begin to ride on the metal face of the tensioner. You will not notice this at first. You will know there is a problem the day the chain causes derailment of the tensioner and the valves get damaged. The broken pieces may attach themselves to the guides of the timing chain.

There are no indications of the failure about to happen. To avoid being caught flat footed you can occasionally remove the cam covers to inspect. This is a task that requires about three hours. It could prove worthwhile and save you a lot of money.

Accessing the covers of the cam is not an easy job. It requires patience and a lot of time to spare. You also need tools which are specialized to handle the task. Just like any other job it is good to have the spare parts that you may need before starting.

There are numerous garages and stores where you can purchase Jaguar tensioners to replace your old ones. The same designs will work well with Lincoln timing chains. It is advisable to take your car to professionals in garages and dealerships who have experience with Jag engines. Their experience will come in handy and they also have the right tools to get the job done.
