So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

2012 HDTVs and the Future of High Definition

By Bernie G. Hookman

The television is an invention that has found its way into people's homes and into the heart of society. It is also considered one of the most popular electronic devices in a majority of homes along with the refrigerator and the washing machine. It is found nearly in every home and establishment and it has been a cherished source of information and entertainment for many years. Its modern incarnation, HDTVs have taken television technology to an entirely different level.

Television technology developed from the idea of producing and transmitting images and receiving them through a common media. The HDTV today is a result of evolving technologies from the earliest designs of mechanical and electronic television such as Charles Jenkins' radiovision and Karl Braun's cathode ray tube. The popularity of these early TVs prompted the continued research and development of broadcast and television technology.

The early beginnings of HDTVs can be traced to as far back as the 1920s marking the first sales of early TVs and increased growth of broadcasting media through the establishment of television networks that gave life to television. This new medium achieved widespread use and acceptance and television has since been immortalized. The versatility of television found numerous personal and commercial applications in information dissemination, advertising, entertainment, education, and advertising.

Television technology has achieved a staggering amount of development since the day of black and white displays. Other devices like VHS players, Laser disc players, and VCD and DVD players have also their success owed to television. Current generation devices like Blu-Ray players were developed to fully utilize the technology of the HDTV.

Broadcasting is a field that has developed and evolved along with the advancement of television technology and remains as an important source of programming for the HDTV. During the early beginnings of broadcasting, analog signals were the medium of choice until the development and incorporation of digital signals. Digital broadcasting not only enabled transmission of significantly improved sounds and images, but also set new parameters for standard and high-definition transmissions.

Video games, movies and entertainment media are just some of the biggest industries to incorporate high definition technology with their latest and proposed titles to get the most out of the current high definition televisions. Cable and satellite television providers as well as other broadcast providers are also making changes to cater to the growing need for high definition programming. High definition broadcasting is truly one the defining elements of HDTV.

The best thing about HDTVs is the substantially higher standards for audio and video it has set which not only incorporates 1080p resolution video but also 3D-capability. Superior technology also allows the television to function as a computer on a limited basis. The TV has a plethora of new functions such as running some applications, accessing and browsing the internet, and viewing of other online media.

HDTVs continue to incorporate more available modern technologies which add many common features to the different models available today such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and even integrated video cameras and microphones that enable voice and motion control. Even the high quality video output that is expected of the modern TVs is constantly getting better with the development of more sophisticated video processing technology. With the television becoming a better-rounded multimedia device today, there is nothing but promise for what is to be the TV of tomorrow.
