So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Synthetic oil benefits many cars though not all

By Cornelius Nunev

Most cars do benefit from the use of synthetic oil, though not all automobiles will. The oil is not always the very best for older types of engines and in automobiles with ultra-high mileage that haven't been filled with the oil formerly.

Get a long life

Car Craft magazine explained that the synthetic oils are much better than the mineral oils on many levels. For instance, the molecular level of the synthetic oil is more stable making it keep away from vaporization or combustion at high amounts. It can endure temperatures much better in your engine than usual mineral oils.

Synthetic oil does not have to be changed as frequently either because it does not thin as easily. It does not lose viscosity like regular oil does. HowStuffWorks explained you can go 20,000 miles without an oil change with synthetic oil while AOL recommends closer to 5,000 miles.

Car Craft explained that smoother, better operation is expected with less internal wear and longer engine life when you have longer-lasting viscosity.

Some people should stay away from it

Putting synthetic oil in your vehicle is not worthwhile for those who have a high mileage automobile or for those who have an older car because they are not well-suited. In the 1970s, it was found that the "thinner" liquid compared with mineral oils was causing leaks and motor seals to shrink. The oil only works in specific automobiles the way it is supposed to.

Synthetic oil is essential for modern engines though because more lubrication is available in less space with the tighter spaces between parts, according to AOL. The current Chevrolet Corvette says that only synthetic oil should be used, while engines with high mileage do not have the tight tolerance spaces. Older engines also do not have the right design to use the oil. Some auto makers have the right to recommend only synthetics or blends in the automobile.

Prolong life of the car

Car Craft explained that fewer contaminants are found in synthetic oils as well, which means there will be less sludge in the engine and will help them flow at better temperatures. The start-up is easier on the engine no matter what the temperature is.

Some owners will swear by the smoother operation of the synthetic oil because it keeps parts from wearing more easily. Yahoo reports that Peter Gilbert, a male who used a 1989 Saab 900 SPG and put over a million miles on it, would only use synthetic oil.

To be able to test synthetic oils, Mobile ran new BMW 325i it purchased in 1990 for four years each day at 85 miles per hour on a dynometer. The motor was disassembled and showed it was practically at factory specifications. It hit one million miles, and it still looked good.
