So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

A Look At The Origin And Benefits Of In Floor Heating

By Georgie McNeal

When you mention in floor heating or to people, they often look at you as if you've just arrived from Mars. The reason for this being, there are countless people who have never imagined they could heat their homes in such a manner. On the other hand, those who have heard about often tend to see it as a relatively new innovation, and they automatically assume it's one of those things in life which are reserved for the fabulously wealthy.

Even though many people aren't aware of it, people have used this type of heating technique for hundreds and hundreds of years already. For instance, the ancient Romans used this selfsame technique in order to heat their beloved bath houses. In Korea, many royal palaces were also heated like this, as were many traditional homes. Today however, the concept is used in many different countries around the world, and its popularity continues to grow.

One of the biggest advantages of in floor heating, compared to regular heating systems, is that it warms up every object in a room, whereas most heating systems only increase the temperature of the air in a room. This is in fact why it's often called radiant heating.

A lot of home owners think that you can only benefit from radiant heating if you have the system installed during the building phase of a home. Many years ago, this might well have been the case, but certainly not anymore. When these systems are included in the plans of a new home, the contractors will usually install all the pipework under the floors. For homes that have already been completed, one can find custom made flooring which incorporates an in floor heating system.

There are essentially three different types of radiant heating systems - electric; air, and hydronic. With electric systems, there'll a network of wires running either below the floor or within the floor. Put simply, one could in a way compare an electric system with a toaster.

Air systems, as the name implies, rely solely on the use of heated air which is pumped through tubes located under or in floors. In many parts of the world, hydronic floor heating systems have proven to be the most popular for a number of reasons, including the fact that they can also be linked up to a solar power system with relevant ease.

In these systems, hot water is circulated through a maze of tubes, and once it has passed all the way through, it then gets heated and continues to flow the tubes. Unfortunately, these systems took far longer than they should have to catch on, simply because of the average person's affinity towards carpets. Naturally carpets reduce the effectiveness of these systems, and it should be mentioned that modern day systems are tremendously more efficient than their older cousins, and nowadays these system can also be used in homes that have wall to wall carpeting.

In summary, these heating systems are perhaps the most cost effective systems on the market. Additionally, there's no fire risk, and this in itself is a huge advantage, considering just how many fires are cause by various types of heaters.
