So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas

Finding Repairmen For Motorcycle Wheel Repair Is Simplified

By Tim Kiv

It is hard to avoid holes in asphalt as drivers steer motorcycles down busy streets in congested traffic but damage occurs nonetheless. More motorcycle wheel repair might be expected because motorcycles bear the brunt of abuse from riders that do not look before casually backing up to park and graze curbs unexpectedly. Some riders damage wheels by forgetting to put the kick stand down. These scrapes are clearly cosmetic but safety specification require wheels to be repaired to be deemed road worthy.

Repairs are possible but will rely on how the technician determines what type of damage was done. Most motorcyclists would prefer to restore a tire assembly to its original condition. The lowest estimate an experienced technician could give would be to restore the base metals to 95 percent of original condition.

Tire wheels spin at a rapid rate of speed at all times, and faster when they are mounted on high performance motorcycles. All performance checks will be performed to determine whether the tire meet high performance standards. Any misalignment in the frame of the tire will cause performance marks to drop rapidly during spin rate testing.

The rapid spinning of tires will be a stress factor for metal alloys. All axial alignments will be inspected in an effort to identify any cracking that has occurred due to bumps and jolts incurred by rough riding practices. A hydraulic pressure test should be used to identify cracks that cannot be easily determined by a simple look. The pressure exhibited by this machine will cause cracks to pop to the surface where they can be welded when repair services begin.

Different settings of hydraulic pressure and heat will be used for testing to accommodate different tire sizes that apply to different bike models. Pressures might differ more if bikes such as dirt bikes have accessories attached that add weight to the vehicle.

All testing is done to ensure that motorbikes are operating with assigned limits. Those limits will vary based on the type of that is mounted on different types of bikes. Different speed tolerances apply to bikes mounted on dirt bikes, high performance motorcycles, and those used on mopeds and scooters. Most riders worry that no repairs will be done because the size will be too large to be mounted on the hydraulic pressurized machinery.

Then the technician will complete a vertical damage check to rule on radial soundness by using metric measurements and spinning techniques to determine how much the tire is out of round. From this point, hydraulic pressure will be applied to correct each discrepancy and determine what kind of motorcycle wheel repair will be necessary.
