So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

The Contents Of Contact Kits

By Madeline Finch

It has become more modern to use lenses instead of glasses. They are much more convenient and spare a lot of hassle. The contacts come from the producer in a contact kit with a special liquid that disinfects them. This type of detergent can be bought almost anywhere. Contact kits should be maintained neatly as it provides the safety of the lenses. There are different reasons for people to wear them.

The corrective impact of the lenses is much bigger than the one of corrective glasses. They provide better peripheral vision and a big part of the glasses discomfort is avoided. Lenses do not hold any moister and the vision is not blurred from the rain. This is why they are the most suitable choice for active sports people and workers that spend their time mostly outdoors.

If the eye has been exposed to severe injury it takes time for it to recover. Here come the therapeutic lenses that protect the retina from the constant blinking that is like a natural reflex. The inside part of the lid can additionally aggravate the situation. The lens is like an invisible halo that covers the eye until completely healed. It also is used as a carrier of medical substances that need to be applied to the eye.

The producers offer two models of lenses - hard and gel. The first one doesn't feel cozy and it requires some practice to put it on. The advantage is that it can heal astigmatism. The special gel model is a phenomenal development and is much better accepted by the patient.

Soft contacts are made of a special gel and are easy to apply. The silicone material allows oxygen to penetrate the eye. It is even possible to wear them during sleeping. The first generation of contacts didn't have the advantage. It was obligatory to take them off and keep them in a contact kit with solution.

Optometrists offer to their clients the single use contacts. Each one comes in a separate sealed package. After they have been worn, it is necessary to throw them away. Being so gently designed, patients often go for that model. It is impossible to irritate the eye with microorganisms that attach to the lens, because it is never put on twice. When going away on a trip, they are the best solution for people who wear lenses. And if by accident one is not usable any more, just buy another. They are sold separately.

Here is some good advice when applying the contact. Washing and drying the hands as absolutely obligatory. They should be oil free so no hydrating products can be used. They will make spots on the lens. It is best if the nails are short and clean because they can scratch or tear the lens.

When the contacts are taken off, contact kits are the storage place for them during the night. Each lens is put in a separate compartment. Before that it is washed carefully and disinfected. Only the prescribed solution is used, never water from the tap. It has microorganisms that will later on attach to the eye and irrigated it.
