So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Is Beadwork Ideal For Kids?

By Daniel Turbin

If you are wondering if beadwork is suitable for kids, the answer will depend on the age of the kids together with the nature of the task they are working on. Young kids will find beads wonderful. They are going to really like the different colors, textures and designs but if in case they are still very young, they may want to explore with their mouths. It is very important that you keep all beads securely. When working with beads, make sure everything is cleared up afterwards.

It really is a good idea to supervise young kids even if they have grown out of putting items in their mouth. Sometimes young children get funny ideas such as seeing precisely how far they are able to push a bead up their nose or in their friend's ear. It will always be best to err on the side of caution unless you fancy a run to the ER.

Mature kids especially girls will also enjoy beadwork but you won't have to be concerned with where they put the beads. Nevertheless this doesn't mean you can leave them alone. It depends on the project they are dealing with.

A number of beading techniques will require the usage of wire and corresponding tools just like pliers and cutters. It is best to make sure your kids know how to use these tools appropriately to avoid a nasty accident. It is really worth noting that semi precious beads in particular can have quite sharp sides and can result in minor cuts.

The materials you use should be appropriate for kids. For example, some pewter has a high lead content and therefore kids ought not to be exposed to pewter beads. The findings used to finish the necklaces pieces ought to be either plastic or sterling silver and not metal. Nickel is the frequent material used in metal findings and it can cause a nasty allergic effect particularly on children's skin as it is often much more delicate. Once you take these safety measures you and your family can get pleasure from completing beadwork projects together.
