So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas - Merry Christmas

Oil Test Kits That Include TAN Testing Which Indicates A Base Number Can Help You Save Money And Time

By Regina J. Moylan

On site testing can be performed with oil test kits that can provide readings of insolubles, viscosity and TAN testing that can provide the total acid number, salt and water base number to identify potential problems. Major repair costs and loss of revenue due to down time can be eliminated with oil analysis which can identify potential problems and breakdown indicators. Entry-level or stand alone test kits are attainable in a wide selection from one particular company. These test kits can be very economical to use either by themselves or in combination with other test kits that supply various parameters and will establish a base number.

A larger, more comprehensive test kit can encompass testing for insolubles, salt test and TAN testing. You will find the multi-parameter test kit includes the necessary equipment and components that your oil condition monitoring program requires. Fast and accurate details are provided by these easy to use kits that will allow you to take action before any critical failures occur as they help you make well-informed on-site maintenance decisions.

Hydraulic oil contamination is a preliminary indicator of possible problems and failure that could create major repair costs for your plant or equipment together with loss of revenues as a result the down time created by equipment failure. Oil testing can indicate viscosity variances as well as insoluble testing for detection including loading and residual dispersant availability with base number determination to use in comparative testing for trending. There is a great amount of advise that can be supplied through comparisons of test that are simple and entry-level. Another type of test referred to as an ECON AN, which was formerly called TAN testing or total acid number testing can report quantitative results for hydraulic and gear oils.

Water contamination can be classified through testing to learn if it is salt water or fresh water, which is a fact that is important for your preventative maintenance direction. Another way to reveal water contamination or wear metals, fibers, silica and dust is through the use of visual patch tests for hydraulic oil contamination. Calibrated charts allow comparison with the qualitative results to assist with an on-site analysis of any preventive action that may be required.

Preventative maintenance is imperative to employ as part of pro-activity to protect your equipment and extend the lifespan while improving productivity and performance. It is possible to protect your investment and reduce potential downtime and lost revenue by investing in oil test kits that are available in a broad range of choices to help you perform stand alone or combination tests on-site as part of your condition monitoring program.
