So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Different Types Of Honda Lift Kits

By Brandi Little

Honda lift kits are after-market car modifications designed to either lift the suspension or body of a vehicle, giving it a much higher and better profile. After a successful installation, the wheel wells will automatically ride higher, meaning you can install taller tires. There are generally two types of these vehicle accessories: suspension and body kits.

These kits are categorized into two: the body and suspension vehicle lift kits. As the name may suggest, the body units are meant to raise the body from the frame. The complete unit comes with blockers or spacers to ensure the chassis gets the right elevation. They are mostly available in 1, 2 and 3 inch sizes. One thing you have to keep in mind is that while you can change to slightly taller tires once you have them fixed, they rarely increase ground clearance. The reason for this is because they are designed to focus more on the wheel wells height.

The height of the accessories that you invest in plus your model of vehicle will determine how much you will need to pay to have them fixed. In some models, you may be forced to elevate the bumpers and extend the gear-shift across the floorboard. These modifications will obviously cost you money.

One more thing you should keep in mind is the fact that while they will improve your vehicle's profile, they may not give you the much needed suspension or even increase your travel. If you are an off-roader, therefore, this means they may not be your best bet.

Your best bet could be on suspension lift kits. The name says it all, really, they give your vehicle the perfect suspension that ultimately enhances travel, clearance between the ground and axles, and more importantly, allow enough room for taller tires. This is achieved because they replace the rear and front leaf springs and the shocks.

While articulation ought to automatically improve when you have a good quality suspension lift kit, but since the steering balance will eventually be affected, you might want to add some steering stabilizers for a smooth ride, especially when you are going off road. Be advised that these units are highly priced than their body counterparts, but they often produce the best results in terms of ground clearance, safe handling, as well as height.

You will mostly find them in 4 or 6 inches, but you should not be surprised to find some as high as 18 inches. Logically, though, you should invest in something that gives you the perfect elevation without looking odd or compromising on safe car handling. The extreme heights are often for the shows and for hobbyist cars, but not on your average every-day use vehicle.

Take your time to familiarize yourself with the different units available in the market. Because several different manufacturers make these kits, you can bet they are very different in terms of quality and price. The internet is always a good place to comparison shop and read online reviews from different car owners, retailers, as well as the manufacturers.

Honda lift kits will also vary in price depending on the model and type. If you are new into the car ownership world, you might want to work with knowledgeable mechanics that will advice you on what your car really needs. Ensure you also know what it will cost you to have all modifications done to accommodate the new units.
