So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

An Introduction To Swarovski Crystal Jewelry

By Rebekah Alford

When in comes to the finest quality in crystal products one name is always to the fore - Swarovski. Although the company manufactures a wide range of items, it is Swarovski crystal jewelry that has captured the admiration of people in all quarters of the globe. These beautiful pieces are made so precisely and exhibit such brilliance that they are an indispensable part of any collection.

Daniel Swarovski, who originally came from a family of glass cutters in Bohemia in the modern day Czech Republic, founded the company. He recognized that the emerging technology of electric power had the potential to revolutionize the glass cutting industry. He was able to develop an electrically operated machine that could cut quickly with unprecedented accuracy.

He soon moved to Wattens in Austria, intending to establish a factory there utilizing hydroelectric power. In the end he decided to wait until 1913, when his techniques for cutting and polishing had been perfected, before building his factory. But his struggle for perfection and to expand his business continued.

Aided by his three sons, Daniel was able to manufacture a flawless crystal. It was, however, the precision of his machinery that allowed him to produce crystals of such quality that they were beyond the capabilities of his competitors who were still using manual techniques. He was on the path the amazing success we see today.

But the family went beyond merely producing and cutting stones. They developed unique coatings that resulted in the brightness and rainbow spectrum that has become so familiar in their jewelry and other pieces, like their glass animals. The range of products is huge and is still growing.

The Swarovski jewelry collection is wide-ranging. It includes items such as necklaces, pendants, rings, bracelets and earrings that anyone would be proud to own. Each piece is manufactured to the highest standards and yet will not break the bank.

For those who like to be a little more unique, there is a wide range of loose crystals available that can be incorporated into home made designs. All are perfect and are of the same high quality as those used in ready-made pieces. The quality is such that imitations are not difficult to identify.

Of course, all lustrous pieces will fade with time. When they come into contact with skin oil, cosmetics and the like, a light film adheres to the surface, reducing the sparkle. Luckily, it can be restored with reasonable ease and is neither time consuming nor expensive.

Wiping the crystals over a simple baby wipe and drying them off with a clean cotton cloth is easy, quick and effective. A second way is to soak the piece in water containing a little rubbing alcohol and bar soap for no more than 120 seconds and then dry it. The sparkle will be restored.

Swarovski crystal jewelry cannot be matched when it comes to style and innovation. It is manufactured to the highest standards and is a worthy addition to any collection of the finest jewelry. It is sold in the best jewelers and is also available from online suppliers.
