So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Answers To Why The Nest Thermostat Is Superior

By Rod Freese

Nest Lab is a name of a company that specializes in designing and manufacturing the first learning thermostat. The Nest Thermostat is a groundbreaking sensor-driven device; it utilizes wireless technology and can be programmed. The company released its second generation Nest in Octobre 2012. Both generations are more efficient than the traditional thermostat because of their ability to learn and reproduce the owners' schedule and therefore save more energy, on average 20 percent.

Spearheaded by Fadell Tony and Matt Rogers, the company has grown quickly since its cretion in 2010. The head offices are located in Palo Alto in the state of California. Their market is currently limited to the United States and Canada, and the products can be obtained through local certified installers and retailers or be purchased online through selected stores. The Nest is due to be launched in Europe early 2013.

Regarding hardware, the device is primarily made of two main components, the printed circuit board and a rotating steel ring. The base facilitates connections between the two parts and has holes to allow for screwing the device safely to a flat wall.

The complex operating system enables the user to control the unit both physically and remotely. The device is controlled by its steel ring which the operator turns to access a menu where the desired function is selected, either a heating or cooling; the temperature is adjusted by simply turning the ring one way or the other. The same design is represented on the web and mobile app interface which the user clicks on or touches to control the thermostat.

In addition to these basic features, the Nest is programmed with extra features such as energy tracking that enables the user to monitor the power usage of the device over the previous 10 days. There is also a scheduling feature by which a person can adjust the settings to run in a specific manner depending on the time of day. The device can also be controlled via a smartphone, laptop and a tablet thanks to the device's Wi-Fi enabled facility. In this way it is possible to get the latest fixes and features by simply downloading the software to the thermostat making it even more efficient.

This thermostat strives to improve the big issue of energy economy that traditional devices have been unable to address with success. Nest Lab technology enables the device to learn the general heating requirements of a household and memorize the trends to use them as a basis from which to operate. In this way the Nest manages the heating system more efficiently while providing more comfort. The user is also saved the task of having to constantly adjust temperature settings.

Energy consumption is greatly reduced thanks to Nest thermostat technology because occupants get boosted energy only when necessary. Moreover, the system automatically goes into economy mode at night or other times of the day when heating is less required. People who tend to forget to turn their thermostat to economy mode while away are still able to save energy with the Nest as it will detect when the house is empty for a length of time and adjust accordingly.
