So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Enjoying The Best Breakfast Fishermans Wharf Can Offer

One of the most well known places in the world is San Francisco. Not only is it in an outstanding location but it also has excellent weather the year round. Of its many attractions, one of the most popular is located on the bay and is called Fisherman's Wharf. Many people enjoy having a breakfast fishermans wharf as a special treat.

The wharf offers a beautiful view, not only of the bay and the ocean, but the surrounding areas as well. This part of America has seen occupation by Spaniards, Mexicans, English, and Americans. Later cane the influx of Orientals and other nationalities, all of whom have contributed to making it a very colorful area in which to visit.

In the Gold rush days Fisherman's Wharf was simply a place where Italian immigrant fisherman kept their boats while fishing for Dungeness Crab. As time went on various restaurants were constructed to accommodate them and the area grew to attract visitors. On today's city tours, it is a "must see" attraction.

In this popular area of the city, there are street entertainers, shops, street vendors, and other attractions. Walking along the wharf on a warm day one will see fishing boats coming to and going from this location. On Pier 45, there is a beautiful chapel to view that is constructed in memory of fishermen, from San Francisco and Northern California, who have lost their lives while at sea.

Other attractions for visitors include places such as Ripley's Believe It or Not, a Wax Museum, Cannery Shopping center, and Ghirardelli Square. It is at the square where the famous Ghirardelli chocolate is sold. Restaurants, which have been in the area for three generations, such as Alioto's and Fishermen's Grotto, as well as others, still have the same indoor construction with an interesting decor and history.

In food preparation, the most popular is still Dungeness Crab dishes. These will be found not only in restaurants but also in open street stalls. Many enjoy purchasing purchase small bags of hot shrimp to eat while strolling along the street and enjoying the sights. Clam chowder, served in sourdough bread is very popular.

If one chooses to eat inside a restaurant it is often possible to obtain excellent an seating arrangement overlooking the bay. This offers a special view of the coming and going of boats as well as seeing the various forms of sea life swimming by. This provides a very pleasurable experience.

Having a breakfast fishermans wharf is an exciting experience and provides the opportunity to enjoy food that is prepared in a manner that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Choices include such things as Fresh Crab Benedict, SF Sour Dough French Toast, Bay Shrimp, or Crab Omelet, and many more items, most of which offer the addition of shrimp or crab. An additional attraction is the people who work in this area. They are very friendly and are happy to point out features of the area as well as discuss its history.
