So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

How To Best Prolong Furniture Life

By Stephanie Wales

It could really be frustrating to see damaged furniture particularly if they were purchased at high price. What's more saddening is discovering that you can no longer find the exact same piece in any furniture shop. This is the reason that it's a must to adhere to certain rules in taking care of your sofa, dining table, or cupboard so you can enjoy making use of them for a long time. Just note that different materials have varying cleaning methods and supplies.

Wipe down wooden furniture with a clean rag to remove surface dust. Use of liquid wax or antique paste wax will do a lot in removing stains and scratches and in making it shine like new again. Wipe away at once any accidental spills like dark colored coffee, juice, saucy viands, tea, or alcohol. This is to prevent permanent discoloration or fading of the wood. If you want them to be resistant to water and other liquid substances, you can choose to have a specialist apply a coat of clear lacquer or polyurethane.

Clean leather furniture by wiping away dust with a clean, dry cotton cloth. Use the vacuum cleaner to remove dirt that can be found trapped in the corners or in between the creases. Doing so daily or at least once per week will help maintain its classic sheen. Make it a point rub on leather conditioner every three to six months to keep it from drying up. Never use water, soap, ammonia or other chemicals or cleaning agents because they can just cause damage in the form of staining or color fading.

Furniture made textile upholstery can best be maintained when you remove spills as soon as they take place. Blot the soiled part right away with a dry towel or any absorbent cotton cloth. Make sure not to rub it but instead use the cloth to soak up the spilled liquid. Do spot cleaning with a bit of water and mild soap if you see that there are still tinges of the stain.

[[Aside from regular cleaning and maintenance tasks, it's also essential that furniture are kept away from direct and extreme sunlight to protect them from color fading. One trick is to position them away from a window or any opening where any form of light can come through. But a much better alternative is to take advantage of the benefits of installing solar film or glass tints offered by Solar Film Singapore distributors. Window treatments such as this may help slow down the normal wear and tear of furniture by blocking damaging ultra-violet rays.]]
