So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Individuals Who Don The Head Turban

A turban is a covering that is made by winding a long piece of cloth around the head. The cloth can be worn by forming it anew every time you want to put it on, or it can be permanently sewn to shape. The covering can be quite large or it can be more modest, depending on the wearer's culture or religion. Different groups of people wear a head turban for different reasons. These communities can be found in different parts of the world. Usually, it is the men in the community who put on this covering.

The Kurds wear these coverings. The piece of cloth is normally worn around a cone shaped hat. The turbans normally have some tassels which are allowed to hang down from the coverings. The Kurds wear either red or white coverings.

In Afghanistan, the coverings are worn as part of the normal day to day life of individuals. It is part of their culture. The type of covering worn is based on one's ethnicity. Different tribes have different preferences when it comes to choice of design. The pieces of cloth come in different lengths and materials. How the coverings are worn also differs. Some people prefer them big and loose while others prefer them small and tight.

Individuals who wear the coverings are respected in India. Most people will present an honorable guest with a covering as a sign of their respect for the guest. Elders tend to wear white coverings. The color of the cloth chosen will be determined by the event that one is attending. Pink is generally associated with weddings or Spring time.

Some individuals in western countries normally don the coverings. It is women who tend to wear them. Since they are not very common, you can easily stand out when you wear them. They can be worn as fashion accessories or by individuals who have medical conditions or are are experiencing hair loss.

The coverings are popularly among Muslims. This is because their faith demands it as part of an inherited cultural tradition, based on the founding prophet of the religion. There are different sects in Islam therefore, the particular design and type of covering worn will be dictated by which sect one belongs to. Women wear a covering known as the hijab, which is different from the covering that the men wear.

It is a must for any Sikh to done the coverings. This is part of the religious duty. The covering contains some small objects which are fashioned as defensive weapons in case someone strikes their head. The objects are normally placed on the front of the cloth when someone wears the covering. It is optional for women to wear these clothes on their hair.

Christians and Rastafarian's are another group of people who wear a head turban. Only a small section of Christians wear the covering as their faith does not require them to put on the coverings. Rastafarian's who are committed to their beliefs tend to keep their hair in the form of dreadlocks. The coverings are used to cover the dreadlocks as most of them grow long.
