So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Cool Aftermarket Upgrades For Ford Trucks

If you have a Ford Super Duty Truck with a PowerStroke engine, it's a top machine straight from the manufacturer. However, there are many upgrades that you can make to your truck that greatly will improve its performance. These aftermarket items can improve fuel economy, as well as increasing your horsepower and torque.

One upgrade that you can even do yourself is to install a tuner. These also are sometimes called programmers, and basically they help the vehicle owner override the stock computer in order to improve everything from your turbo boost and fuel-to-air ratio to the timing. All of these things are controlled by your truck's computer and when you take control, you can really increase the torque, horsepower and fuel economy.

Deciding to add a tuner is the easy part. Choosing a brand of tuner or programmer is trickier and there are several quality manufacturers who make tuners for Ford diesels. For instance, an Edge programmer is a good option, costing about $500 on average. You could also opt for a Bully Dog tuner or an H&S tuner, which is pricier, but it might be just what you want.

Many diesel truck owners also add a turbo to their stock engine, which offers a way to improve the power of the engine although it does add some weight. The power gained by the engine often overrides any worries about weight. Turbos aren't inexpensive, with the cheapest models going for about $900 up to more than $2,000 depending on model and brand. Industrial Injection and aFe are two companies that make turbos for Ford diesel engines.

Another option is to install a new air intake system. A stock air intake is fairly restrictive, and replacing the factory intake with an upgrade allows more air flow which translates to more power and better performance. There are many brands of diesel cold air intake systems on the market for Ford owners, such as H&S, Airaid intake systems, aFe intakes and many more.

Finally, you also might want to add a new exhaust system. This increases the noise produced by your truck, although many truck owners enjoy this aspect. In addition and perhaps more importantly, you typically see at least a 5% improvement in your miles per gallon, and sometimes it's as high as 10%, which significantly reduces your cost of fuel.
