So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

A Look At Vintage Neon Signs

By Esther Salazar

Businesses, big and small, have to conduct a marketing campaign so that they can gain customers. They have to increase their visibility in the community especially if they are newly established. One way of doing this would be to put up vintage neon signs that will be sure to draw everyones attention as they pass by.

The production of these signages involves the bending of glass. The workers are in charge of bending these tubes to the desired shape. It is possible to produce a variety of colors by varying the type of tube and the composition of the gas that is placed inside it. Signages are usually handmade so that specific designs can be produced.

Generally, these glass tubings are used to form the logo or the name of the company. The customer can of course request for anything he or she wants. With an attractive design, the final product can be quite striking. Combining colors and creating a pattern where specific areas are lit on or turned off also makes for a dramatic display.

This style of advertising started in the twentieth century. The dancing and colorful lights became a familiar sight. During the heights of its popularity, entire streets were decorated with these displays. Because it was visible and served its purpose, businesses even up to now still use it.

As time passed, different materials became more popular. Today, they do not only hold the interest of shop owners, they are also sought by homeowners. These pieces can make a unique addition to any room. It can provide enough light at parties for example or it could be used to get that vintage look.

Given that these items are not as popular anymore, they can be pretty difficult to find. Many people are worried that these signages will completely disappear. Groups that aim to preserve these products have been created. There are places where you can go to see these items on display. People have also started collecting these items.

Collectors can get these items from events like garage sales. Many of the items that are here are already used and worn. The signage you have obtained from such a sale may look good and cost you little but it may not actually be working. Keeping these items in good condition or restoring them is a challenge for many.

For those who have to deal with broken items, there are companies that specialize in restoration for times when the tubing is missing or when it is broken. They can also repair the product if it is malfunctioning. If you want to work with such a company, make sure that they have the credentials and the experience.

Vintage neon signs used to be so popular. They were put up as a way to draw the eye of people passing by and hopefully interest them in buying something from the shop. The signages come in many different colors and designs. They can be used for advertising, decoration, and may even be collected by enthusiasts.
