So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Hmong Jewelry Is Special To Put On

By Myrtle Cash

If you are looking for something to embellish your new outfit or your whole wardrobe with, you should try Hmong jewelry. It is very lovely and not that hard to get. Look online for deals and websites that sell this type of product. There are many of them online. You can also join an auction to get the best bid.

Add a piece of jewelry to an outfit that you are going to wear somewhere. It can be quite fun to try new pieces. Try necklaces, earrings, bracelets and pendants. Wear something that you like so you feel good about yourself. It is not every day that you can wear something from the other side of the world.

Thailand, Laos, China, and Vietnam are among countries where this jewelry is from. Most of the Hmong people live in China. Three million of them live in China. The jewelry is usually not gold. It is silver. Other ones live in the United States, France, Canada, and Australia. You can research this more by reading about it.

Circular and curvy patterns are among some of what you can expect in the way of designs. They are really pretty and fun to wear. Some pieces are very bulky and can be heavy to wear. If a Western woman wears these, she will probably not be used to it as many of the Hmong women have been wearing them for years.

Some items are genuinely handcrafted. They offer a lot of beauty for just one person to wear. It can be quite overwhelming. They are made with care and delicacy. Sometimes in this culture, they hand down the jewelry from one generation to another. They usually do this during a marriage ceremony.

The value of the metal says a lot about the status of the woman wearing it. If it is authentic silver, it may be a woman who has a husband with more money than a tribal woman who does not. This classism does not seem fair, but is the reality. Tribal women usually wear these items to the store or a friend's house. It is only on special occasions that they are worn.

Some items are so bulky that you cannot wear them. Western women especially may find them uncomfortable because they are not used to the weight. Sometimes when it is too big to wear, it must just be on display instead of being worn. If you purchase a piece and that happens, just buy something to frame it or display it and it will look fine.

Hmong jewelry has culture to it as each piece is usually handcrafted. Enjoy wearing some today as you explore how to get it by looking online. Enjoy learning something new about this culture. Keep an open mind as you learn new things. This makes life more fulfilling. See what different cultures are like as you look into this. It can be quite an eye-opening experience.
