So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Storing Investment Wines In Custom Wine Cabinets

By Teri Farley

Some vintage wines sell for thousands of dollars and are considered to be investments. In order to ensure their investments retain their value, many collectors use custom wine cabinets. These can ensure that the bottles are safe and that they are not exposed to too much humidity, heat, or light.

Wine has a history that dates back thousands of years, the earliest product dates back to 6000 BC in what is now Georgia. It is often referred to in literature, both books and poems, even the Bible. The beverage is consumed by rich and poor, and can be sold for less than $10 or as high as many thousands.

It has a low alcohol content and is commonly made from grapes but also comes from other fruits. There is a chemical in fruit that allows fermentation without the need for additional sugars or acids. This is one of the things that makes fruit so attractive to wineries. It also can be found in several colors and varieties.

High end vineyards often sell their vintages for thousands per bottle. However, any that sells for more than $50 is considered to be in the category of fine wines. There are other wines that are so good that they are bought as investments; here the demand goes up as the price does.

In order to be considered highly collectible, the product must have a proven track record of standing up over time; they must have a maturity that is many years long; experts must agree that they are high quality; and there must be rigorous production methods. This includes both the grape and barrel aging processes. If you are purchasing an investment, you should make sure you do your research. There are some people who will state that the product is of a higher quality than it really is so that they can sell it to people that are not knowledgeable.

When properly stored, wines can not only keep their quality but some can even improve. There are some whose flavor improves over time. The best temperature for aging it is around 55 to 59 degrees F. There are specially made refrigerators but the product will not age in them. Rather these are only good for short term storage and to chill the beverage. Many commercial refrigerators will not do the same job because they do not control the humidity levels.

Many people keep their wines in a cellar where the temperature and humidity are sustained by a climate-control system. Some are not climate controlled and these must be located very carefully. It is perishable and can spoil when exposed to light, heat, vibration, or even fluctuations in temperature or humidity. For this reason, many serious collectors will have their cellar made by professional craftsmen.

There are a number of ways that people store their beverages; from a kitchen refrigerator to an expensive, climate-controlled cellar. The only way to be sure that your investment will be sustained, or even improve, is to use a high quality cellar. Custom wine cabinets are designed to your specifications to ensure that your bottles are safe and secure.
