So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Houston Antique Auctions Offer Bargains On Rare Items

By Maryanne Goff

If you are the type of person that likes to buy things that are rare and hard to find, you may enjoy frequenting Houston antique auctions. These events are typically held by accredited auction houses that are selling off an influx of items that they have received, and personally appraised. In most cases, the items sold by these auction houses, are sold for under their value.

There are a lot of different things that draw people to these types of events. Some people enjoy frequenting the events, because it gives them the opportunity to purchase items that not everyone has. Other people like going to the events, because they are able to locate bargains on some incredible items.

Whenever someone sees that another individual can make a great deal of money from engaging in a specific activity or task, they believe that they can emulate them, and do the same for themselves. Basically if you want to be frank, people do as they see others do, and hope that they receive the same results of engaging in the same tasks. In some cases, it works out for them, but in others it may not.

Of course, for people that choose to attend the virtual event, there are a few advantages and disadvantages to going to these types of events. First of all, when you decide to go to an event that is held virtually, you will not be able to physically touch the item you will be bidding for. You will usually only be shown a photograph of it.

This can cause the asking price on the item to increase drastically. However, some of the rarest items are sold through virtual events, this is one thing that constantly draws more and more people to these types of events. The rarer the item, the higher the worth.

At the end of the bidding time, the individual with the highest bid will be awarded the item. The live auctions held online are similar. However, individuals will place their bids, by clicking their mouses, or typing an amount in, when they are beckoned to do so. A traditional auction is similar to the virtual style events, but different at the same time.

When it comes to bidding on either one of these events, regardless if it is virtual or in a brick and mortar setting, the rules are the same. The price is normally set by the auctioneer that is hosting the event. They will then begin to take bids from people that are interested in purchasing the item. The individual that is able to pay the highest dollar amount for the item, wins the item that they have bid on.

With two different ways to attend Houston antique auctions, many people are beginning to see the potential in these events. The media has brought the attraction of antiques back into perspective. With a lot of popular television shows, showcasing individuals that buy and sell antiques, people are attempting to follow in their footsteps. It is important that before you attend any one of these types of events that you do some research on the auction house that is sponsoring it.
