So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Mobility Moves Business: The Continuing Future Of Cars Is Networked

By Eric Glynn

Year 2013 not only brings us trends that can better our lives, but also includes advancements within the purported favourite gadget of Germans : The automobile. Cars, which can already be measured now on the occasion of the present CES, will no longer be pure petrol guzzling, steel monsters in the long run (and are already partly there), but more intelligent and incorporated into our lives with multi purpose devices.

After several periods of electronification, automotive engineers are at the point where they can integrate a real, little computer into a vehicle. In The End, at this time, two worlds collide.

Or, what's a lot more serious, two eras : the current information era and the industrial era. Yet, we can now purchase cars that readily and wirelessly connect with our smartphones, speak on the phone using the onboard hands free system, play our favourite music, play spoken directions and now include the newest traffic tips for a journey - all characteristics which make the life of motorists not only more comfortable, but also safer.

All the more as computer assisted driving is made possible. A car brakes automatically once the driver doesn't respond fast enough, beeps not only when parking or once the gap between the next vehicle is too little, but also takes in the whole maneuvering process if desired.

A completely automated journey from A to B isn't yet prepared for mass market this year as the German technical review association (TUV) probably still needs to set in a strict word

Until then, however, we are already well supplied with the improvements. If everything runs centrally over the onboard computer, we are much less prone to be diverted by the use of cell phones, GPS and MP3 players and engage one or the other driving assistance discreetly. Much has already been won.

Here, automakers compete on the integration of multimedia and cellular communication in their new car designs. Audi makes its car into something like an LTE cellular hot-spot for up to eight users and has improved its web based "Audi Connect" system. Obviously, it's also made improvements to the on-board navigation and entertainment qualities.

US car manufacturer Ford has brought to CES a whole software development kit from the creation of applications for its onboard entertainment system "Sync". These will make entertainment and information channels available whenever a smart phone is accidentally left at home. Those manufacturers who don't yet have anything to show have at the very least made announcements of similar technology. Overall, the automotive industry is in turmoil nowadays.

Last but certainly not least, premium Hi fi producer Harman showed its QuantumLogic 3D-Surround System for cars. This technology assures not a cinema to only - like listening experiences, but also features sounds that can be heard from distinct interior corners, due to improved orientation. Industry insiders estimate digitization of cars only will provide a surge in revenue of over six billion euros during 2013.
