So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Quick Tips For Insulation And Draught Proofing

By Claire Mastroni

There are a significant number of insulation options for all types of properties. A well insulated building will stay warm in the winter months and cool in the summer. It will also save a lot of money on heating bills. Old poorly fitting doors and windows allow a lot of warm air to escape and a lot of cold draughts to come in.

Heating costs are very high and many people are looking for effective ways to reduce them. One of the best ideas is to contact a sash window draught proofing contractor, who will insulate the home to help keep it warmer and more comfortable. Winters in London tend to be damp and chilly. A older house that has very draughty windows will be miserable in the colder months and cost a lot to keep warm. Most of the warm air escapes almost immediately out of the windows.

An older property can really benefit from insulated curtains. There are many great styles and colors to choose from that will really add some interest to a room. The thermal fabrics can be very effective in preventing heat loss from a room. They also work well in summer to keep the rooms cool during warm sunny days.

Fortunately there are a number of fast and easy ways to block the draughts coming from windows and doors. Exterior doors can be one of the biggest problems. A simple draught stopper can work wonders. These old fashioned but effective items should cover the entire length of the door and fit tightly into the corners. They are available in many fun designs and interesting colors.

Weather stripping is another quick and inexpensive way to keep out draughts. The foam strips are V shaped and placed on the inside edge of the window. They take up the space and prevent cold air from coming in. Even someone with no home improvement experience can install weather strips quickly and effectively.

Home improvement stores are an excellent resource and place to get help. The employees can offer a range of solutions to insulation problems. Many people are quite surprised to find that they have many inexpensive and easy options to choose from. Even those who have never tackled a home improvement project will be able to accomplish an insulation project in a short amount of time.

A business owner must be very aware of the overall condition of their property. It must be very comfortable or their clients will complain. Draughty offices are a serious problem. Not only will the employees be uncomfortable, but the heating costs will be too high. Sealing windows in the colder months is a good option. Weather strips are quick to install. The self adhesive backing makes them easy to apply, even by someone with no experience.

Many people try to learn a few insulation techniques from an experienced contractor or friend. Some of the tricks are very easy and cost so little. It is important to know how to keep a home warm, especially for those with a baby or young children. Infants should not sleep in a cold or draughty room or their health may suffer.
