So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Expedition Of Italian Luxury Fashion

By Helga Stokes

Italian luxury fashion became very popular in the 11th century and came to peak during the renaissance. The powerful cities at the time venice, milan, florence, vicenza and Rome began producing robes, jewelry, textiles, shoes, fabrics and elaborate dresses. It was popularized by the Medicis of Florence and mainly influenced by art masterpieces of the likes of Leonardo da Vinci. In 17th century France overtook it and it was not till the 1950s that Giovanni Battista Giorgini started competing with French haute couture and label like Gucci started competing with Dior and Chanel.

At the mention of Italy you cannot fail to think, models, sophisticated clothings, opera, gelato, pizza and its beautiful scenery. After its rebirth its focus on ready to wear apparels has put it number one in the major leading fashion countries followed by France, Great Britain and the rising Japan. This broadened their market and due to their decent make made them widely accepted.

From the recent to the old gala houses of Italy, there is a striking presence of emphasis on quality and elegance. Gucci, ferragano, Fendi, Trussadi, Vercase, Valentine, Dolce and Gabbana, Emilio pucci and Prada are the few among the few popular fashion houses in Italy. This is considered a family business and gala shows are used to popularize their new trends.

Among the four main capitals Milan is the leading. Milan's main upscale gala district is the quadtilaterodella moda, falleria vittorio emanele and piazz del duomo are also important. Florence hold the headquarters for Gucci, Robert cavallis and Emilio pucci. Its main upscale street is Via de' Tourabuoni. Via del Parione and Via Roma is also known for its high end fashion store. Rome houses headquarters of Valentino, Bulgaria, Fendi and Brioni not forgetting Prada, Chanel, Vercase and Dolce and Gabbana along the prestigious Via dei condotti.

The semiannual Milan gala week is a high priced event aimed at promoting the new trends by the many designers. It is held after the pairs and London gala week and then followed by the New York gala week. It is attended by buyers and editors interested in this industry.

The luxury gala houses are opening pockets and giving back to the community of their country. They have focused on improving the county for tourism. This is done by the likes of Fendi for fountain project aimed at restoring Trevi fountain. The Fondazone Prada foundation has preserving Italian culture and enliving of its historical buildings.

That to die for Gucci bag, glamorous Borsalino hat, those heavenly Santonis shoes, breath taking Dolce and Gabbana perfume, stunning Robert cavallis eye wear or that colorful knit by missoni. All born of Italy. A place where even the poor and remote dress to impress with impeccable elegance.

Italian luxury fashion has become widely accepted due to their exclusivity of their innovative creations. This is driven by the need to dress well embedded in the Italian culture. It is with no doubt the trendsetter of the worlds entertainment trends, home of innovation and where statements are made.
