So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

What Golf Lessons For Kids Can Teach Them

By Kate McMahon

Golf lessons for kids provides them learning opportunities for many different life skills. Players are able to learn and develop good character traits as they progress through their lessons. These character traits can then be carried over into other areas of their lives and be used throughout their lifetimes.

Playing golf requires you to be courteous to others and communicate with them respectfully. During children's tournaments good sportsmanship is expected from everyone and must be abided by at all times. At the end of play, every opponent shakes hands.

Being punctual to events is also expected. A specific tee time is always set, and competitors are expected to be ready to play prior to that time. If a player happens to be late, they are disqualified automatically no matter what the reason for them being late is. This is one of the toughest lessons for kids to learn, but shows them how important it is to always be on time.

Golf is a game of honor. By being able to both recognize and admit when you have made a mistake, you take responsibility for it. However, that is only part of the game. Children learn what integrity and fairness really is, both skills that can be applied to adulthood situations.

Clubs and flying balls both pose a risk of injury if not properly used. Rules of the game focus on keeping everyone safe while on the course. Children are taught about never swinging their clubs toward others, never swinging if someone is standing close by and never hitting the ball toward people. These lessons can also be used during other activities. As children master these skills, they learn to be more cautious when playing around other people.

Golf is a game of concentration and silence is expected any time you are on the course. Young children do not grasp this concept at first, but once they do they have acquired a lesson that they can use in many other settings as well. Having this skill is especially helpful in school when children should be focused on learning.

Players will likely encounter many different weather situations while playing. This is just another part of the game and provides ample opportunities to practice problem solving. It also promotes personal growth of each player as well.

This is not an easy game to master. It requires intense mental focus and emotional control. Being able to remain calm, with emotion in check, is important when a bad shot occurs. This is a very advanced skill that can be applied to many different areas of life.

Being naturally skilled enough to master the game of golf your very first time on the course is rare. It is a game that requires patience and takes lots of practice. Children will learn that goals are not reached as soon as you set them. They learn that you need to practice and make changes to reach them over time.

Golf lessons for kids teach another important skill as well, graciousness. At the end of a tournament the children are expected to thank the chairmen for the opportunity to play with a handshake. Many players are also expected to write a note of thanks too.
