So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Choosing A Parking Garage Design

By Rachael Gutierrez

If you wish to come up with a parking garage design, there are a number of things that you need to have in mind. The most important of them is that there have been significant changes in the manner in which these facilities are created within the last couple of decades. Increased competition for construction space amongst both government and private developers in many cities all over the world has been a major driving factor.

It has become increasingly necessary to create designs that utilize small space but are still fully functional. The result of this is an increased rate of innovation in this industry as each designer tries to outdo the other in creating the most appealing piece of work for their client. The clients on their part are looking for products that will take the least amount of cost on maintenance but result in the highest possible profits.

The rise in the cost of living has spilled over into the construction industry with the cost of materials continuing to rise by the day. The implication of this is that most designers have opted for more cost effective materials. These materials have to be as good as the conventional ones in terms of functionality which frequently proves to be a major challenge.

Global warming and climate change campaigns have certainly had a very strong impact on the construction industry. Every time, one comes up with a design of any kind, they are forced to have in consideration both the short term and the long term implications. The result of this is a limitation in the types of structures that can be created. Most countries, states and cities have laid out regulations as regards what can be used and what cannot.

Asphalt and concrete are still popular construction materials. The main reason for this is because they are both environmental-friendly materials; they are both good reflectors of sunlight. The main advantage that concrete has over asphalt is that it is better for drainage hence it is preferred in areas that receive large amounts of rainfall.

One of the most popularly adopted systems is one in which vehicles are arranged at right angles to each other. This is a move that has greatly helped utilize space as well as ensure smooth movement of motorists through the facilities. The main advantage that this system has over the traditional ones is the fact that it comprises a two-way drive way that makes the entry and exit way easy.

Designers need to be alive to the fact there are many more cyclists using the facilities than was the case in the past. For this reason, it is important that they put them into account even as they create their desired structures. There should be mechanisms that will allow easy movement of motorist, pedestrians and cyclists.

Robotic parking systems have been a great addition to the modern parking garage design. These systems are especially useful where large numbers of clients are handled in a small space. They have made it very easy to park and retrieve vehicles. Additionally, they have helped lower the operational costs greatly.
