So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Choosing The Best Fairbanks Caterer For Your Event

By Georgia Diaz

To arrange an event or a function for a wedding, birthday, retirement or some other celebration usually means you have to find a first class Fairbanks caterer. If you want your celebration to be fondly remembered by your guests, getting the catering right is essential. Use common sense and follow some handy hints on securing the services of a first class catering firm for a successful function.

Knowing your budget and how much you can allocate towards catering needs to be ascertained before you can start planning the finer details. In addition to the catering there are several other potential costs to be taken into consideration. For example, the hire of the hall or venue, hiring entertainment, the costs for invitations and postage all need to come out of the budget. After everything else is paid, whatever funds are left can be used for the catering.

If you are hiring a hall or a room in a hotel, it is likely they can meet your catering requirements. In some cases they may only hire out the accommodation if you use their catering service. If you do bring in your own catering service, check that the building has suitable facilities for preparing and serving food.

The majority of catering service providers will quote based on the number of guests. You will need to draw up a list of the people you want to invite. You can always increase or reduce the numbers usually up to a few days prior to your party. It is usually a good idea to set aside a contingency fund to allow for any increase costs if you do add to your guest numbers.

When you have a set amount of money to spend on the party, put aside the money for all the other costs incurred before deciding on the food arrangements. If you want to have a more formal sit down meal, it is likely to cost more per head than a buffet style meal. You can still have a selection of hot and cold dishes with a buffet but it is likely to be the more cost effective option.

It is important that you have met with the caterer and feel confident that they can provide the service they are promising. Try to get at least two or three quotes for comparison. If the companies are based in your local area, you should be able to follow up on their references and check out their reputation with colleagues and friends. Ask questions to confirm they hold the relevant food hygiene certificates and that they have liability insurance in the event that you need to make a claim from their insurers.

Some venues may not have a bar service or a licence to sell alcohol. If that is the case, you may ask your catering service provider to supply one, or you can hire in a bar service. Whichever you choose, always check that they have the appropriate license to sell alcohol.

A Fairbanks caterer will supply terms and conditions of service and a quote in writing. Their contract will spell out the service they undertake to provide. It should also contain a breakdown of their costs.
