So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Hints When Measuring Foam For Cushions

By Vickie Walsh

Accurate measurements when ordering foam for cushions are paramount to ensure that the covers fit. The tools required for completion of this process include a pencil, a piece of paper and the tape measure. Slight adjustments are made after taking the measurements to ensure that they fit perfectly. The covers will not be loose or unnecessarily tight.

Before any measurements can be taken, the cover is emptied off damaged or old foam. A flat surface is used when taking measurements, and they are from the middle of any length. Accurate figures represent the distance between one seam and the other on the length and width of the cover. Tight corners and outside edges affect measurements and they should be avoided.

Cushions are manufactured in different sizes and shapes. The sizes are measured at the middle and through a straight line. Adjustments are made on all measurements given to ease the process of fitting. This will ensure that the covers are neither too loose nor too tight because it affects the appearance of the sitting area.

It is important to consider the kind of cushion you are ordering. This consideration guides the process of recording measurements. While figures for the thickness require adjustment, those taken for the length and width should be maintained. The polyester fiber filling that is added on foams necessitates addition of a few inches. The adjustments should be passed on with the figures given to the manufacturer.

Where you will be using the foam only, ensure that additional measurements exceed by a quarter inch, which should be rounded off to the nearest inch. This means that a measurement of 5.25 should be rounded off to 5 while 5.75 should be rounded to 6. You are guaranteed that the covers will perfectly fit once your cushion is delivered. Send the measurements to the manufacturer with the adjustments because he has no authority to change that.

Adjustments on foams that are wrapped with fiber lining are made to the nearest half inch. This makes a lot of difference from the foams that are not wrapped. These adjustments must be communicated to the manufacture as well. They are given alongside details on the number of cushions you need for your house. This information is important for planning and to avoid wastage of material.

To avoid any distortion when taking measurements, a flat surface should be used. The cover should be emptied of old or damaged cushion. It is helpful to draw a sketch of the cushion and indicate the measurements on the diagram. This will avoid switching the figures which would result in something totally different.

Measuring foam for cushions is best done by experienced individuals to avoid costly mistakes. The adjustments should be minimal to ensure that the cover fits perfectly on the cushion. Ensure that it is as natural as possible to avoid messing up the seats. Accurate measurements are necessary in ensuring that the cover fits well on the cushion. Slight adjustments do not affect the price.
