So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

The Simplicity Of Installing Peel And Stick Vinyl Tiles

By Tiffany Gill

Homeowners have a range of choices available for the type of flooring they use in their property. Most of the common options will produce good looking and lasting finishes and this is certainly true of peel and stick vinyl tiles. This style has been in use for decades, with its advantages making it an excellent choice for any home.

There are a few standard sizes in which pieces are manufactured. An even sided 12 inches by 12 inches is by far the most common although rectangular shaped pieces are also produced. To calculate the number of pieces required for a job the size of the floor to be tiled needs to be assessed. Homeowners should buy more than they need for the initial job so that they have spares for any future repair work that may be needed.

There are a few areas of a home where vinyl surface floors are one of the best options. Rooms that have water supplies such as bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms are locations to consider installing them. While tiles are typically designed as flooring there is nothing stopping them being used on walls as well. They can easily be used to create splash backs and other waterproof areas so that they match the look of the floor.

Budget is a consideration in most people's decision on the flooring type to use in their home. Its affordable cost in comparison to other materials makes a vinyl floor an attractive option. As long as the existing floor is sound it does no need to be removed and this makes installation simpler. Washing, drying and priming the surface is all the preparation required before the tiles are laid.

A huge variety of colors and designs are available to make it easy to create a floor to match the interior design of a room. Single color pieces can be used on their own to create a solid appearance or two laid in combination to have a checkerboard look. There are also plenty of patterned finishes available for those that prefer something different to a single color.

Anyone that considers the cost of a hard surface floor to be too expensive can accurately recreate the look for less money using vinyl tiles. Pieces can replicate the appearance of a range of natural materials. This includes stone finishes such as marble and granite, as well as a range of woods including oak, maple and mahogany.

Vinyl has some excellent qualities that make it a good option for flooring. This includes the durability of the material and it is not unknown for floors created using it to last for up to 20 years. Other benefits include that it resists the effects of scratching and staining well and is simple to care for. While it provides a solid surface it is not overly hard and is easy on the feet.

The technique of laying peel and stick vinyl tiles is simple enough for anyone to learn. This ensures that any homeowner should be able to install this type of flooring. This removes the labor costs of hiring someone to do the job, which would likely be required for other materials, and reduces the overall cost of a flooring project.
