So This Is Christmas

Merry Christmas is such an infectious feeling I like to feel that way all year around.

So if you are visiting just before Christmas, just after Christmas or even here on Christmas day I am sure you will find something of interest for you and in the spirit of Christmas.

It may be said that Christmas is no longer a celebration but this must be spoken by people that have never had trouble closing their eyes on Christmas Eve in an expectation of what maybe left for them on the carpet under the tree.

I continue to look forward to the surprise on my Grandchild's faces to this day at Christmas events.

Using An Area Rug Set In A Home

By Tiffany Gill

Most people want the floors in their homes to be attractive and rugs are a way to enhance their appearance. A single rug can add some color although using more than one can be a better choice. A matching area rug set is the best option for this.

A three rug set is a common option available with the pieces included in this coming in different shapes and sizes. The standard combination is a small mat teamed with a longer, thinner runner rug and a larger area rug in a square, rectangular or circular shape. The different rugs can be used in various locations, with the aim of creating a coordinated and stylish design.

Rug sets with two pieces typically comprise a smaller mat and a longer runner rug. These are ideal for the entrance to a home where they can protect the floor from dirt on the shoes of those coming in. However, they are also suitable for interior rooms where they can be placed at a doorway.

The appearance of a rug set can range from a single color to intricate patterns. Finding a set that ties in with the color scheme and design of a home should therefore be relatively easy. With all three pieces having a matching finish they can bring together the look of different areas.

There are a few different fabrics that can be used to produce the rugs in a set. Natural materials that are typically used include wool, silk and cotton. Rugs are also produced in man-made material, with some of the common options including nylon, polypropylene and acrylic.

Rugs are not only for indoor locations and it is possible to find sets that are specifically designed for outdoor use. In many cases these have a larger and smaller rug in a matching style using materials such as jute. Placed on decking, a patio or a portico they can create a more homely feel and add to the attraction of these areas.

Care needs to be taken when using rug sets on harder floors. They can slip when stepped on although protecting against this is relatively easy. The two most common ways of doing this are to use anti-slip pads or tape. They will stop a rug moving to lessen the chances of a slip. Pads have additional benefits in that they help create softer underfoot conditions for anyone stepping on the rug.

While rugs are generally durable there are ways in which to give them a longer life. Regularly clearing them of dirt is as simple as vacuuming both sides. They can also be taken outside to shake or beat the dirt from them. Wet spills can cause stains although if they are cleaned immediately it should be possible to remove them. To keep the color of rugs from fading try not to place them in locations that receive direct sunlight.

An area rug set can be found for sale at a number of retailers. This includes carpet and flooring retailers, big-box chains and home improvement stores. Most of these will have a variety of shapes and styles available to give customers a decent selection to choose from.
